This thread, for some reason, got me to thinking: what if there were properly placed LEDs all over the hulls of Federation Starships so virtually all of their exteriors were self-illuminated? What would that look like? (I'm imagining a ring of tiny lights rimming the outside of the bridge module, showering the entire upper half of the saucer in light, and similar details for the rest of the ship.)
