IMPORTANT SAFETY NEWS FOR MASSACHUSETTS

I have to say that, while I was not one of those freaking out about our back-up water supply (one woman I worked with refused to take a shower for fear of getting sick from water drops on her lips), I was more than a little surprised this morning to see what was in it. Once they lifted the ban, we went around opening up taps, including running ran both our showers on full-hot for 15 - 20 minutes and I was stunned at the silt the accumulated on the bottom of our tubs. Who knew?

And as for the system flushing instructions, while I am complying with them, I was amazed this morning when one colleague insisted it wasn't necessary and was just another way for the MWRA to "steal our money" by making us run up our water bills. More distressing was the numbers of people who thought she was probably right.

Just happy to not have to rinde my dishes in bleach water anymore. And kudos to the repair crew and everyone responsible for getting this fixed so relatively quickly.

Now it's time to grab some popcorn and kick back for the ensuing blame game. :p

The 15 minutes running hot water I think is a little much and a waste of water. However the running water for a minute thing is not enough time, at least 5 minutes. Water mains break all the time around here, sometimes with the help of a horrible (de)construction company. I had water that looked like mud before and I didn't drink it for days because I knew no one bother testing it even after it was ruled safe. There was still sand in it after they said it was "safe" I'd be amazed if the asshole company even reported it. Dumb fuckers, I hope one of them gets injured so I can go on the news and say "Yeah with these assholes I'm shocked more people aren't hurt".

Yes I'm a bitch.
