IMHO, Resurrection was just missing something

I can't put a finger on it. I understand the need to do a Bajoran (yawn) story in the war arc but an "other side" Bajoran seemed a lil'.....stretched..... Didn't hate the episode (like wishes were horses) but I certainly didn't like and sure didn't love it. Seemed more like a filler episode than anything else.

Resurrection was incredibly bland even moreso coming off the Occupation storyline. I never really cared for Bareil. The Intendant's use was gratuitous and I really could care less about another Kira romance.

It also typified a lot of the problems I had with season six. It had little to nothing to do with the War. When people want to know what qualifies as filler I point to this episode.

I thought it was alright. Decent enough without ever verging on the brilliant. Probably the weakest of the MU episodes, but not bad.

I think Resurrection is one of DS9's weakest episodes overall. I find it bad for one thing because it seems really, really pointless too me (the MU had long run its course at this stage) and secondly because everyone on the crew just looks totally stupid when Bareil kidnaps Kira.

On top of that, as has been pointed out, it's total filler. If there's filler, it needs to be good, and IMHO this most certainly doesn't fit that bill.

It's not missing something, there's nothing good about it at all.

I totally hate that episode. Bareil was always an awful mannequin/John Kerry-like character. He was bad enough the first time around. Bringing him back was awful and so was every single other aspect of that episode. I don't hate Resurrection quite as much as abymally bad crap like Melora or Fascination, but I'd still say Resurrection is in DS9's top 10 worst episodes.

Vedek Bariel Reporting for Duty

Did he vote for the war after he voted aGAINST it?

Pretty much spot on.

What a complete, total waste of an episode. I would have preferred a follow-up to Move Along Home.

Man you musta really hated. At least I did snicker (a little) during MAH. During Resurrection, I kept looking a the DVD timer.

Frankly, I think anything associated with the MU was a waste of time.

The Star Trek Mirror Universe is basically one great episode followed by lots of really bad ones.

They should've just left it alone.

Resurrection is the kind of episode that is so bad that it should always be skipped, never watched. DS9 has about 5 or 6 episodes per season which are really bad like that. Of course the other 20 or 21 are ranging from good to amazing, so for the ultimate DS9 viewing experience one simply needs to compile a "skip list", never watch any episode on the skip list, and erase the bad experiences of the skip-worthy episodes from the theatre of one's mind.

I'll nominate If Wishes Were Horses.

I know it wasn't really him, but Rumpelstiltskin? Fcuk that!

^^ I can understand why some people hate them, but I've always had a soft spot for the Jack Pack episodes.

Statistical Probabilities coming up Monday nite on Spike.

:brickwall:

Actually, that one is awesome. Extremly compelling idea explored in that episode in a brilliant way and on the B-plot, every one of Weyoun and Damar's scenes are hilarious. Statistical Probabliities is a masterpiece.

However, the other Jack Pack episode, Chrysalis, is an abomination. It's the largest degree of difference possible. The two episodes shouldn't really be lumped together.

I liked both Statistical Probabilities and Chrysalis. That scene where the Jack Pack does Do Re Mi and Serena finds her voice is one of the most touching scenes in Star Trek. Tears me up every time.

I somehow always forget about the Dominion part of SP b/c the Mensatards always dominate

"That's a stupid question."
"That's a stupid question too."
