Imagination

I think as we get older our imaginations also tend to get bogged down by facts. When you're little, you don't know a whole lot about what is and isn't possible, so your imagination can take you anywhere. The smarter we get, the less we imagine because we know more about how things work.
I don't really agree with this. Knowledge is not impairing my imagination: if anything, it stimulates it! But I can't be arsed to put my thoughts and inspirations to fruition.
Jadzia explained it better than I did. I just think knowledge grounds our imaginations so that the things we imagine are based more on reality, whereas when you're a kid you're not quite so constricted. Imagination doesn't necessarily go away, but it definitely takes a different shape and follows more rules.

Yeah, now I understand what you meant. Mostly, I agree. I would be deluding myself if I thought that my mind is as agile and fluid as it was when I was younger (even if in my case, I would call it "cementification", not "crystallization" ).

And we grow accustomed to our rules, applying them even unconsciously when we draw patterns and connections.
