Does anyone know where I might find online images of William Hartnell from the 1930s, '40s and '50s? I've been wondering what the first Doctor might have looked like during his younger years.
I've never seen much before the late 1950's so I'd be curious to see that myself! I know television was still young back then but did he do anything on stage that was documented photographically?
Thanks for the links. Hartnell had a very "hard" face even during his younger years. In nearly every photo that I've seen, he appears older than his physical age.
Ther are some shots of him at about 20, during a theatre tour of Canada with the actress he was about to marry, in the biography his granddaughter wrote about 10 years ago. Don't know if anybody's scanned them and put them online though, but even then he looks old for his years.
