Image hosting

There’s a section about this in the Fan Art FAQ, which I’m just gonna quote here:
Q: Where can I host images online so I can post them in my threads?
A:
The most reliable place is in your own bought-and-paid-for webspace. You can either buy some or use one of the numerous free hosting services, such as imgur.com, tinypic.com, flickr.com or postimage.org.
I don’t personally know weebly.com, but if they’re any good I can add them to the FAQ.

And if others have even more recommendations I can add those as well. It's kind of an impossible task to keep this up to date, since these kind of services go down and pop up under different names every few years.

I use Imgur for my illustrations, which has worked out fairly well.

When I'm uploading the image outputs of my EVA-Trek scripts to upload on Ao3, I use Dropbox, mainly because I need the extra storage space to hold them all and I know Imgur's had issues with that in the past.

Actually, looking into it, it’s doesn’t seem like weebly.com is an image hosting service at all. From their “About” page: “Weebly is a website and eCommerce service”. I am sure that when you use their service (free or paid) to build a website for yourself you are able to upload images (and other media) to your website, but I’m less sure about them actually wanting you to use the images hosted on their webspace to be hot-linked on other websites, like the Trek BBS. I’m honestly not sure how much of an issue hot-linking still is in this day and age, but it used to be a big no-no, because you were literally stealing another website’s bandwidth. Which is why I would still recommend you use an actual image hosting service like the ones named in the FAQ, because that’s what they are actually made for.

I still use Imgur, but after their last "upgrade" a couple of years back, uploading images has become a byzantine and cumbersome process. Instead of posting images directly into albums, they just post into their own single-image album and then you need to go back into the album you want it to go, "Add or remove images" and then find the image you uploaded to select it and add it. You can still have little one-off "Untitled" album turds lying around that you need to clean up after the fact. Who ever designed this new interface needs to have their head examined. And if they already are in therapy, they need a refund, because it ain't working!

And that's my professional opinion as a Web Systems Architect of over 30 years.

I must admit that I don’t bother to go back and regroup my uploads. I’ve mainly been letting them stay in their original upload album.
