About a month ago I started thinking about my own lifestyle, what I eat, the amount of exercise I get, etc. Now, I should preface this by saying I am not unhealthy or overweight. I've always been cautious with what I eat and how much of it I eat, but I could always do better (or worse). While I don't think I've ever been overweight, I think I've stayed fairly close to my height-weight ration; I'm 6'4 and weigh 100-something. I've honestly never even bothered to check.
But recently I wanted to change things.
With the warmer weather here, I decided to take 25-30 minutes every day at lunch time and go for a relaxing walk through the neighborhood. When I get home, I cut up some lettuce and prepare myself a salad consisting of chopped tomatoes, grilled chicken, cucumbers, and a hard-boiled egg. I stay away from dressing because I don't really like it much. I've also gotten quite addicted to eating sliced strawberries late in the afternoon, too.
Then much later in the day, but not everyday, I'll spend about 15-20 minutes lifting two 20 pound weights.
I've been doing this for about month now and it's amazing how much better I feel both physically and even mentally. I've no doubt that I may lose a little bit of weight from all of this, but, that was never really a goal. I've tried to not get consumed with maintaining a certain target weight; it's always just been about how I feel, physically.
But so far, so good!
That's my story for the day that I wanted to share.
