I'm Seriously Conflicted

The Master of Tarquin Hill

Commodore

I recently liquidated my DVD library. What I found myself unable to part w/ was my LOTR extended edition box set, and and all of my ST series and movies.

Not included in my ST library is the 4 seasons of Enterprise.

If I can find some credible reason, I will buy and include this series in my now reduced library.

Is this series worth it?

i can give you a list of 15 episodes and which discs that you can get from say netflix .
then decide for yourself.
:)

I was the casual viewer who became regular viewer and have found in all seasons eps I like; but rent before buying if you aren't sure about the show!

Watch for deals or buy used. That is what I have been doing and I have everything but Voyager. ENT is cheaper than the others becaue it is only 4 seasons. I'll also say I enjoyed the series much better on DVD than on TV.

I've looked at cost of DS9 dvds and there is no way I could afford those and really like to some day that was my fav trek next to Enterprise and TOS. But luckily you can find Enterprise cheap unless you just want to tape off Scifi every Tuesday night in hopes they actually show the full seasons again. Season 2 of Enterprise though is hard to find I had to look high and low for that but other three seasons were easy to find.

^ Off-topic, but why are you always bolding your whole text?

Creature of habit I guess; just do; undid bold just some places not use to board and do it like that!
Oh, I hope you didn't get it the wrong way. I wasn't really criticising. I was merely curious. I'm a student of graphic design and typography and consider bold typeface as a means of emphasizing or exaggerating words. Sorry if I sounded harsh. :)

No it depends on board; alot of them have where you can change the print and make into different type as I can tell this one doesn't and its just I think I was thinking people could see easier my answers lol! Like I said creature of habit from other boards. ;)

I feel that about 2/3rds of the show ranges from decent to very good, with a few great episodes thrown in (mostly in seasons three and four, but there are a couple in seasons one and two, also), while the other third ranges from mediocre to bad, with a couple horrible episodes. So, overall, I think it's worth buying, but try to find it cheap or used. :techman:

I appreciate the replies thus far. One thing that I probably should have included in my initial post is that I have seen Enterprise in its totality on skiffy(I did not watch it 1st run).

I guess what I am really trying to get at is how ENT clearly shows that it is a coherent link to TOS and then TNG.

Maybe I am getting to wonkey here, but I have some trouble integrating this series.

It doesn't integrate, that's why. It's best viewed as something completely different.

i think it works better as a precursor to tos then a lot of people give it credit for.

one thing remember in tos how some of the junior officers seem anti vulcan .
take into consideration enterprise's less then perfect (well tos, tng and ds9 had some less then perfect vulcans) and the decision not to help earth during the xindi crisis, the bombing of the embassy.. ect..

maybe were some of that was coming from.

It is totally worth it. Like DS9, it is better on subsequent viewings than it was during the first time you saw them.

I only know that my personal criteria for owning anything on DVD is in how often I feel I will re-watch. If I don't think I will re-watch it a lot, it doesn't get bought. That's why my DVD collection looks a little weird--I don't have any Trek DVDs except the first four seasons of TNG. Honestlly, seasons 5-7 of TNG are probably the only ones I'll buy of Trek in the future.

I have enough of my favorite episodes of ENT on tape to keep me happy. :)

As for where it fits in with Trek as a whole, I'm probably not the best judge because I haven't seen all of DS9 or Voyager, and almost nothing of TOS (don't beat me with sticks!). Guess that's why I never had a problem with the continuity thing!
