I'm sad, but I like One Tree Hill

I've never been much on these kinds of shows, and I avoided things like Dawson's Creek and The OC on principle. But recently a friend encouraged me to check out One Tree Hill and, despite my initial hesitation, I bought the season 1 set one bored afternoon.

And then, unfortunately, I became hooked. I'm not so much into the whole teen romance melodrama, but there's plenty more to chew on here. I've just finished season 4, and I'm still as curious as hell to find out what happens next. It's embarassing, but I can't help it

Anyway, I know a lot of people here are quite knowledgeable, and whatever-the-television-equivalent-of-'well-read'-is, so I'm asking you for your thoughts?

I actually like this show too, and it's the only one besides cartoon like Simpsons, Family Guy and Invader Zim. I love Brooke. =P

Can't say I'm a fan but as I undestand it is better than most of the other shows like it. Granted, that's not exactly a ringing endorsement...

I used to watch this show with my sister when she was in high school. She had a crush on Chad Michael Murray, and a friend of mine in college had gone to school with Hilarie Burton so it was not all that unpalatable for me.

Plus, Dan is just such a bastard!

I've never watched OTH. I got tired of the WB teen angst drama shows about mid-way through Dawson's Creek, and haven't watched anything else that resembles it. This show does have a passionate fan base, though, so there are people out there who enjoy it.

I liked the first year with the tension between the two brothers on the basketball team. Plus, you're right about Dan being the bastard always stirring things up. I think my favorites were when Lucas joined the team and his sarcastic comments about "God doesn't watch sports" and the one where they got kicked off the team bus for fighting and had to walk home. The second year got too Dawson Creek on me and I stopped watching. Maybe I gave up on it too soon.
