I'm really looking forward to DEAD SPACE - anyone else?

Twilight

Is it a been-there-done-that knockoff of Event Horizon and Doom 3? Probably.

Might it be another DOA third person shooter like DARK SECTOR? Possibly.

Am I still excited for it? HELL YES. :D

Released on 360 and PS3 on October 14th in the US (two weeks!) and on PC the 20th.

Yeah, I've been anticipating Dead Space for a while now. I'm really interested to see how the seamless interface stuff plays out.

There's also an animated comic prequel thing they did which is also up on Gametrailers... I haven't seen it myself, but I've heard it's pretty good. Which I'm hoping indicates that they've actually got a worthwhile story in the game!

Been watching this one for a while and really looking forward to it.
In addition to the online comic they are supposed to be releasing an animated movie when the game comes out.

I'll be picking up both.

A Thing/Alien type of game? Sign me up.

It's on my blind buy list for the upcoming crop of games coming up. I've seen enough that has impressed me to give it a shot.

This game looks cool. Not my type of genre, but I'll probably give it a shot sometime, maybe early next year.

Yeah, EA is trying to build a franchise out of it, hence the backstory building content.

Here's Issue 1 of the animated comic:

and issue 2:

Wasn't there an animated film as well?

Yeah, I think the animated film comes out the day of the game's release? (someone correct me if I'm wrong...)

I'll google around to find out...

Edit: the animated film is being released on DVD / Blu Ray Oct 28th in the states.

On March 21, 2008, Electronic Arts and Starz announced that an animated movie, Dead Space: Downfall[15], would be a prequel to the events of the game Dead Space. The movie, being developed by Film Roman, is expected to be released on Oct 28[16].

Completely unoriginal (Alien / Event Horizon / Doom3 wrapped in one), but it still looks fun.

Early review from a 360 magazine.

They gave it a 91%, their largest complaint was that their favorite bits of the game were underrepresented (they wanted more zero-g sections) and they praised all the horror elements as well as the game's script.
