The moral of the story is: If you don't go to school, you'll end up painting roads for a living.
And not knowing how to spell when you do.
But the problem is, those guys painting the roads make more money than most of us.

Well, after all those years of engineering school, I specify how others will paint roads. Yeah, I've really made it in the world...

I can't tell you how often I see "yield" misspelled as "yeild" when painted on roads.
To be fair, sign painters aren't always the most literate segment of the population. I've seen signs that say, “PARKING STRICKLY ENFORCED” and “PARRALEL PARKING ONLY.” And there's one on a storefront in my neighborhood that reads “PERVENTIAL FRENCH FURNITURE.”
What's really bad is that some of these stay up for years without being corrected. I suppose that even if someone helpfully points out that the sign is misspelled, the property owner or whoever is responsible simply doesn't give a shit.

Except that the famous naked giant isn't a mistake -- and it's probably no older than the 17th century.
It was a joke.
I though "cockup" made it pretty obvious, but I guess not.
Wait, do you mean to tell me that this epidemic of road typos is not just confined to the United States, but actually signals the downfall of the entire world? My God.
