I'm growing some facial hair!

Boldly going...

I mean I can grow it but I've just never had it beyond my lazy periods of not shaving.

But I'm going to try it. I'm thinking of going with the "barely grown in goatee" look. Similar to what Leo wears in "Inception."

If you're gonna do something, do it right.

Hey, if you like the look of it and it's comfortable for you, go for it.

Personally, a few days' growth has always made me itch....

When I see this thread topic, all I can think is, "Mine grows (though not like that), and I wish it didn't." Then, I whip out the tweezers until I feel better about my face.

That being said, go with a full goatee and beard. Those always look classy and slightly evil.

How long should it really take from perfectly shaved to grow "a beard"?
I'm 26 now and still can't really grow one. I had a week off recently and didn't shave for 10 days, and I just thought it looked rubbish at the end of it. Maybe it's just me, its all patchy and my moustache doesn't connect to the face part, like there aren't are hair folicles in between. I wasn't sure if it just needed longer time to grow, or if beards just aren't for me.

As for the picture above, my friend has a beard, and wants to shave it off but his girlfriend loves it and tells him not to. So not all girls dislike them

It's just your face. Some people weren't designed for beards. I can grow a full beard in about 3 days.

I, OTOH, can go three weeks without shaving and compared to most guys, I look like it's been maybe three days. It takes me over a week to get to the point of five o'clock shadow.

That being said, I can grow a beard - I had one for a year or two, nearly 10 years ago, and I've also had a goatee. These days, I'm just too lazy to maintain facial hair, and too busy to maintain clean-shavedness, so I shave every two or three weeks.

A lot of it depends on the genes. Some ethnic groups tend to have heavier beards than others. American Indian men, for example, generally have sparse beard growth, though it's a myth that they have no beard at all.

This thread is useless without pictures. Treker, you better be documenting the entire process with photos each day, so that we might add them to your archive of legendary exploits from your TrekBBS adventures.
