I'm a doctor, not a ....

Just finished watching "The Kennel Murder Case (1933)" with William Powell and Mary Astor.

In it, the medical examiner, a Dr. Doremus' has two lines: “I’m a doctor, not a detective,” and then, “I’m a doctor, not a magician.”

According to the IMDB "They inspired, supposedly, the catchphrase of DeForest Kelley's character Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy on Star Trek (1966).“

Fascinating! (raises an eyebrow.)

Pop culture builds on pop culture. Who would have thought that in 1933, a movie actor would say that, and ultimately influence a computer program (something that didn't exist then) to say "I'm a doctor, not a nightlight."
