If you were to build a ftl drive what would it look like

The FTL drive will be 2 enormous propellers on the aft of the spacecraft. On the ends of each blade will be huge electro magnets with enormous amounts of power running through them. The sheer amount of power in them and the spinning of the propeller will cause space-time to be distorted and warped, propelling the craft at FTL velocity.

This is the single silliest thing you've ever said.

For technobabbleness; two great honking engines at the back (and two forward to slow down, not sure what turning on the centre axis while at FTL would do to a ship's structural integrity), a mass reduction field (like in Mass Effect) and a temperoral (sp?) anchor of some form, to stop that pesky time dilation thingy :p

For looks, has to have holographic interfaces AND physical switches. And maybe a neural interface. Plus a cup holder. Can't go anywhere without the cup holder.

Prove it. Build a scale prototype. If the thing moves by any means other than aerodynamic effects on the prop then you will be rich beyond your dreams.

If you're too poor to build something then show the math.

Mine would be a giant conveyor belt with little pincer things on it that would grab the fabric of space-time by the short and curlys and use the conveyor to push itself forward through space-time.

On the other side of the conveyor the pincer would disengauge.

^ It looks like an epilator.

I have seen the face of evil. And it is:

I was thinking of the tweezer versions:

Here's mine.

Why a black box? Because we don't even know if FTL is possible much less how to do it so any speculation on what it will look like is kind of pointless.

My FTL drive just works. The why and how don't really matter;)

That looks almost as evil as what I posted. The things you ladies do to yourselves. As long as your legs are no more fuzzy like my face is at 6 am, then you're good with me. ;)

My FTL drive would involve putting a ship in a box. Under the laws of probability the ship, to outside viewers, has just as many chances as being right where it is as it does being transported to another planet. ;)

^ The Schrodinger Drive! Have empty boxes on all of your planets. At any conceivable time the ship may be in one of those boxes. It's almost as ingenious as the Infinite Improbability drive!
