If You Could Trade Surviving Episodes...

Sindatur

The Gray Owl Wizard
Admiral
If You Could Trade up to 15 Surviving Episodes*, to make go missing, in order to get currently missing episodes, what would you give up, and what would you want back?

My List to Eject:

Reign of Terror - I don't care for The Historicals (Aside from The Aztecs, which is actually a favorite of mine, and The Romans is pretty funny). I'd trade the 4 surviving and have animation done on 2 different episodes.

The Crusade 2 Episodes

An Unearthly Child - Episodes 2-4 (Episode 1 really shoulda been a Prologue for The Daleks)

The Gunfighters - Episodes 1 - 4

As to what to bring back:
Definitely Tenth Planet 4
and I don't know the missing stories well, but, I'd say I'd probably spend them on Cybermen, Daleks and Ice Warriors

* "Surviving Episodes" is meant to be within the Hartnell/Troughton Era

Honestly, I would eject some of Season 3 of the new series (everything from "Gridlock" through "42") in exchange for pretty much anything Patrick Troughton did. I'd certainly like to see complete versions of "The Moonbase" & "The Wheel in Space." I'd also really like to see Jamie's debut in "The Highlanders." And "The Enemy of the World" looks like a very intriguing story, with Patrick Troughton playing the villain as well as the Doctor. Oh, and the missing episodes of "The Web of Fear," featuring Victoria's departure & the debut of Col. Lethbridge-Stewart.

You're gonna have to sacrifice a whole lot more than that, LOL.

I disagree with An Unearthly Child 2-4. I didn't have fond memories of this story but when it was put on DVD it was a lot better than I remembered.

I wouldn't want to see anything "traded off", but I suppose if I had to kill one, it would be The Keys of Marinus, which was produced as filler anyway, and is one of the few DW stories I do not like all through. The Space Museum isn't awful, but it's hardly DW at its best either. So taking those 10 episodes together, I'd use them to recreate Marco Polo 1-7, Tenth Planet 4 and use the other two to complete either Reign of Terror or The Invasion (not knocking the animation, but obviously given the choice I'd take the original footage).

I've also never been overly fond of The Dominators and The Krotons. I'd redistribute those 9 episodes in order to either complete The Daleks Master Plan and its Mission to the Unknown prologue, or to be fair to the Troughton era, put them towards completing the Power/Evil of the Daleks duology.

The Gunfighters 1 - The Power of the Daleks 1
The Gunfighters 2 - The Power of the Daleks 2
The Gunfighters 3 - The Power of the Daleks 3
The Space Museum 1 - The Power of the Daleks 4
The Space Museum 2 - The Power of the Daleks 5
The Space Museum 3 - The Power of the Daleks 6
The Underwater Menace 3 - Mission to the Unknown
The Faceless Ones 1 - The Evil of the Daleks 7
The Dominators 1 - Marco Polo 7
The Dominators 2 - The Massacre 4
The Dominators 3 - Fury from the Deep 6
The Dominators 4 - The Highlanders 4
The Krotons 1 - The Savages 4
The Krotons 2 - The Macra Terror 4
The Krotons 3 - The Myth Makers 4

That way any story I don't like keeps a single episode in the archive, and every other story that is completely absent has one too (with the exception of The Smugglers; had I been allowed a 16th episode I could have saved that as well... :))

If I had 17 I could've saved The Daleks Master Plan 12.

If I had 18 I could've...

Ad infinitum.

I'd dump the entire McCoy era for all the lost episodes.
"Surviving Episodes" are during the time frame Episodes are missing from, Hartnell/ Troughton; that's all you can trade.

It's meant to be an excercise of changing the era of missing episodes to suit your preferences

Candlelight and Alex, thanks for your contributions :bolian:
