If you could resolve an old 'quest'-oriented show...

Gojirob

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
As we all know, the shores of TV Land are positively littered with the corpses of shows wherein the heroes never got to find what they were looking for, or to achieve the goal that was their heart and mission. So, if given the power which two - one live action, one animated - would you give the go-ahead and somehow someway see brought to a true conclusion?

Mine : Live - Bixby/Ferrigno Hulk, the movies aside

Cartoon - Josie And The Pussycats In Outer Space

Live Action - Legend of the Seeker

Oh you know it's going to be canceled before they do all the books.

Cartoon - Pinky and the Brain

The series finale should have been an episode where The Brain and Pinky win a hard-fought battle against their nemesis Snowball and conquer the world. And no reset button.

...and Quantum Leap
As I think it's perfect as it is, how's about Nowhere Man

And maybe an epilogue for Avatar: The Last Airbender to wrap up Zuko's story. A nice 4-parter, akin to the current series finale, would be nice :)

Hugo - I'm just a guy... with a boomerang... I didn't ask for the flying... and magic...

Firefly and Exo-Squad.

I really wish ExoSquad had re-edited their final episode when they knew there wasn't going to be a continuation. They concluded the whole Neo-Sapien War, we get conclusions and find out the fates and future plans of the team and everything and then boom they gotta introduce the aliens who show up.

Anyway my pick would be Carnivale... Damn you HBO

A home for the folks of Moonbase Alpha - Space 1999.

A way home or sanctuary for Pete and Alan - Planet of the Apes.

Okay, that's two.

Captain Planet

He finally realizes that bringing "pollution down to zero" means eliminating all life on Earth (as even plants and animals create some level of pollution). The episode ends with the Earth as a barren wasteland.

Back in the mid 1970s when I was a young mother I liked a TV western series called "The Quest" which starred Kurt Russell and Tim Matheson as brothers Morgan and Quentin Beaudine.

The brothers had been separated as children when Morgan and his sister were captured by the Cheyenne. After 8 years Morgan was freed by the army and he and his brother started searching for their sister.

The show only lasted 15 eipsodes before it was cancelled mainly because Westerns were no longer that popular. They never found their sister.

Only one double episode has been bought out on DVD. I might buy it just to see if the show was a good as I remember it being.

They re-edited some POTA eps into TV-Movies with an elderly Galen recounting these tales to some young apes. Galen said that the astronauts found their computer, fixed their spaceship and finally left. I remember seeing some of them in the late 70's/early 80's, but this new footage, filmed with Roddy Mcdowall, seems lost to history.

Wow, thanks for that info; I had no idea!

The Thirteen Ghosts of Scooby Doo. He never did catch all 13 :(

Also, does Space Above and Beyond count as old?

Slider's original premise would have been nice to see resolved. Pity it denigrated into a not so good show.

And yes, Space Above&Beyond counts. There appears to be a dividing line in shows when they finally began to be staffed by the people who grew up with wholly unresolved shows.

I second the Hulk. That was the one show in TV history that stands out as deserving a finale in not getting it.

Other candidates: Coronet Blue, The Invaders, The Immortal

I was disappointed when CBS canceled their revival of The Fugitive without any resolution. It ended on a triple cliffhanger! Kimble caught up to the one-armed man (Stephen Lang!!!) and they were fighting. The government agent helping Gerard SHOT Gerard, then saw Kimble and the one-armed man and shot one of them, but we don't know who. The end!

I would have liked to have seen what J. Michael Straczynski had planned for the finale of Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors.

Sliders

I always wondered what happened. I just checked wikipedia and what the? season 5 didn't even have the same cast!?!

Season 5
With Jerry and Charlie O'Connell stricken from the cast list, the writers decided to simply lose Colin in the vortex, and fuse Quinn with his counterpart on the new world, who is the only duplicate to not look anything like Quinn
Almost as bad as replacing Bo & Luke on
"The Dukes of Hazzard" .
in the spring of 1982, before filming of the fifth season, series stars John Schneider and Tom Wopat walked off the set in a contract dispute over their salaries and merchandising royalties. Two lookalike replacements were subsequently hired.
Wikipedia

and then the SLIDERS season finale:
The series concludes on a world where the sliders are the subjects of a fanatical religion called Slidology, founded by a man with psychic powers who has mentally followed them on their interdimensional adventures.
Oh My God! How awful of an ending to the series!
