It comes down to the amount of money you want to spend right now. It is either about $100 or $300. new so there is a huge price difference. Also it depends if you are a huge TNG fan or not. Personally I'm not.
Alternatively you could purchase Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection on Blu-ray

(first 6 films only)

and also purchase a $100-$150. Blu-ray player (with BD-Live Profile 2.0).
It should be able to downconvert to play on a standard TV and you'll be set for down the road.

In that case, I would simply reprogram the scenario, and keep BOTH. I don't believe in the no-win scenario.

Can I ditch Voyager and Enterprise, instead?

I definitely would keep TNG. Star Trek movies are often really not the awesome experiences they should be. Nothing in three thru six is that special.

This sounds terrible as I am so meh on TNG and loved many of the movies but I'm going to have to go for quantity and pick TNG. So many more hours of Trek.

Hmmm. Can Itrade seasons 1 and 2 of TNG for the first movie and Wrath of Kahn?

Right now if I had to give up any of Trek it would probably be TNG. I had no idea that arrogance and preachy were so "in" back when it was filmed.

I'd rather have the TOS movies the TNG movies aside from First Contact I didn't find very good and even then it was just a big dumb action movie but I guess you could say the same thing about the new movie as well.

Star Trek I-VI, no contest. TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT could all blip out of existence and I would never notice or care.

That's an easy one. The Classic Trek movies. The best thing we ever got out of TNG was DS9.

TNG set, easy. Both movie sets only had two good movies (IV and VI for TOS and GEN and FC for TNG), and I like the TNG characters and world better.

No matter how much I love the TOS movies, I'd go with TNG series. I learned the most from them. I thought differently about people, situations and my reactions to them. Watching TNG made me a better person.

Yeah, it's really your attachment to the original cast VS. a plethora of new & challenging SF stories (as well as some duds).

Ultimately there's no contest for me, it's TNG every time. Not having Picard, Data, Worf, Riker, the Ent-D, the Borg, The Inner Light, Relics, Guinan... it scarcely bears thinking about.

TNG. No matter how much I loved ST IV, movies are a brief but entertaining schedule, a TV series creates and delves into the characters and the universe. I go with TV every time.

Besides, the Enterprise D is, if perhaps somewhat impractical, the most beautiful starship in Trek.

I would happily trade all of TNG for just TMP, but if you're going to let me keep ST2 through ST6 as well, then cool!
