If you could go millions of years

back in time and leave one modern item behind knowing that one day it would be found (fossilised, or petrfied etc) what item would you choose and what do you think the reaction to its discovery would be?

A Chase Bank Card. Imagine a 200+ year old bank... already associated with mystery and conspiracy theorism... suddenly being established as an organization which has spanned millions of years; a corporate giant which not only helped forge the dawn of the industrial age, but one which also monopolized space long before the known civilization of earth... and helped provide the capital necessary to fund the largest research project in the history of the universe: Project Humanity.

It could be the foundation of a movie more interesting than The DaVinci Code. :)

A large dildo.

I would die of laughter at all the various explanations at what it could be, because science would never come out and actually say what it really is.

A piece of paper that says, "Don't elect Reagan unless you want a huge recession to begin in 2007. Yours truly, God."

A single EE government Bond, after millions of years think of what it would be worth!

I can't think of anything all that wonderful at the moment, but I think it would be cool to leave some sort of art, or maybe a small journal (providing they could actually be preserved somehow). Nothing that foretold of any particularly momentous moment in the future, just a glimpse into someone else's perception, worlds away.

Find out where they will unearth a T-Rex and go back to the time it died and place a lightsabre in its hand.

Headlines: "T-Rex: Jedi or Sith?"

Modern Human skeleton. Just to shake things up, lol.

A server with a complete current backup of Wikipedia.

This reminds me of a creative writing assignment we had in 6th grade. We had to write a story about being sent back to the Stone Age and we could only bring one item. I chose a 100-volume encyclopedia because having all that knowledge at my disposal would not only help me survive, but help build my own civilization. The kids liked it so much, I ended up writing at least a half dozen sequels throughout the year. A few months ago, I was going through some old stuff and discovered that I still have the first one.

I love that NatGeo cover. :rommie:
