If Voyager's finale had left them back in Kazon territory

The underdevelopment of its characters is the chief failing of VOY to me. Chakotay, Kim, and Kes were never utilized properly. They were never given souls or made to stand out.

Season 3 was actually great for Kes. And you can see they would have improved on it from Before and After. But then that summer poll came out and somehow Harry got bumped into hotness by default due to lack enough hot Scifi men around in general.

Were there even any scifi shows around then aside from the treks and maybe sliders and Buffy/Angel? Now there would be some decent competition. Or maybe last year. Smallville and Supernatural would be at least the top 4. Go back two more years and you've got Battlestar Galactica for another two or three. Scrape up another three or four from those idiot scifi reality shows and you're nearing a good bakers dozen. No way Harry stands a chance in the new world order of scifi.

Well, the Voyager writers dind't care at all about what the fans would like or not. Quite the opposite.

I just have to mention "Fury" and "Endgame".

And yes, "Fury" did stop me watching, although I actually watched "Endgame", making my mind up about watching it 30 seconds before the episode started. A bad decision from me as I see it now.

Why is it that Fury is such a hated episode? O_O

If the technology were ever invented, would you go back in time to stop yourself?
Of course. I've made some extraordinarily stupid mistakes in my life that I'd love to have turned out differently.

Or they arrive back at Earth, but it's entirely uninhabited except for 7 or so lifesigns on a Pacific island (depending on whether nearby island natives, Wrongway Feldman, or a few others are visiting). They find the castaways there, and they pull one over on the Voyager crew on shore leave and the 7 of them steal Voyager, fly into a solar storm on a 3 hour tour of the Sun, and find a way back to an inhabited Earth. Meanwhile, Janeway can yell at Harry every time he bumbles their attempt off the island.

Skipper- Janeway
Gilligan- Harry
Ginger- Seven
Mary Anne- B'Elanna
Professor- Tuvok
Thurston- Doctor
Lovey- ennh... Tom
Nix on B'Elanna being Mary Anne - I'm sure she couldn't possibly bake even one coconut cream pie, let alone the hundreds she must have made during all the years they were on the island.

Chakotay being Mary Anne? Makes much more sense.

Of course it would have been sad to see them not getting home.

But the ending which is suggested in the original post would have given us continuing adventures in the books and a possible movie which wouldn't have been that bad.

The Kazon were dire the first time around - I couldn't have forced myself to read continuation books if that had happened.

The current novels by Kirsten are written way better than the show ever was !
