If Trek is one story...

Flying Spaghetti Monster

Vice Admiral
Admiral
...played out in "canon" over all the episodes and movies, with connections (some as simple as the timeframe, others having to do with development of races and characters) that indicate that ALL of Trek is part of the same scheme, and even new Trek Producers (for the new film) can't really bring themselves to clear the slate and get rid of canon (instead they build upon it) my question is...

...what would suffice as a satisfying end to this grand story?

Boom.

Boom, boom, boom.

Not satisfying really, but it would be the only way to hit all the loose ends everyone would be moaning about with any other ending.

I honestly don't think it's possible to tie up a franchise as massive as star trek in a way that is satisfying. I think you just have to tie up the individual shows, that's all you can do. sadly, not all the series got that.

Star Trek VI was a perfect ending to the classic crew stories.

of course it could end like this....

Old Kirk shows up in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek. Old Spock says to him, "Excuse me, Captain. Did you not reappear from the Nexus in the 24th century and get killed?" Old Kirk looks puzzled. Then Benny Russell wakes up in a cold sweat and the orderly says, "I think they gave you the wrong meds last night, boss."

Maybe the last chapter to the book Federation..where there's a starship far in Trek's future exploring another galaxy and the captain orders sidewarp factor 55.

The best ending would be Q snapping his fingers, and the galaxy flashing out of exsistence, then he turns to the screen, smiles his evil smile at us and says, "Okay, let's start again".

Why would it need to end? Some characters/organizations may pass on but others will be born to pick up and carry the torch.

:guffaw:
Okay, I hate Q, but I love that idea!

I understand your sentiments, but it's just hypothetical. Stories have beginnings, middles, and ends. I was just asking what kind of ending would be appropriate.

Only fitting ending would be total annihilation of the Federation. Or total monopoly of the Federation, with the Federation bringing every alien race in the Universe into their version of the collective. Or the entire Universe itself implodes and ceases to exist.

Anything else would always have loose ends, and thus, could not be complete as an 'ending'.
