If This Series Took Place In The Early 2200s......

Say for example it took place around 2201... 40 years after the Federation charter, the start of a new century..

Do you think fans and audiences would be more accepting of the aesthetic and story decisions for the show?

There's VERY little information about what happened during the early 2200s. It's basically unknown. It seems a better point to transition the Enterprise era towards the TOS era.

Less chance of violating canon, than having STD take place concurrently while the established Cage-era Enterprise is on their mission.

Probably not. But there would be less direct comparison between it and TOS. People would find other things to complain about. :shifty:

I was just checking the timeline and everything that I want a backstory on started in 2300 or later (Enterprise C, The Federation Cardassian War) so i probably would still feel the same way. I really want a backstory on that era though, one day.

Honestly, the timeframe of the series (taking place during the same time as The Cage while looking completely different) and the blatant liberal SJW agenda seem to be the biggest complaints with STD.

I feel like the aesthetics of the series could have at least worked if it was about 50-60 years before Kirk's 5 year mission.

I thought they did a great job making the USS Kelvin and it's crew look appropriate to the 2230s. STD, however, is a massive visual (and likely tonal) departure from Cage-era Trek.

OF COURSE! It already looks a lot more like a sequel series to ENT than a prequel series to TOS anyway.

(And that’s only natural because in the real world it’s been ‘only’ 12 years after Enterprise ended but 53 years after The Cage entered production. So production wise it looks more like ENT and the recent Kelvin Trilogy.)

Trekkies love to complain no matter what. Changing the fictional timeframe would not have changed that, I'm afraid. And yeah, it tells a lot about someone if they're complaining about a perceived “SJW agenda”.
