If there was only ONE season of Voyager?

Shattered, why? It seemed disjointed with who remembered what in the end, and why only Chakotay? And possibly Janeway. I really enjoyed it but not if I only get 26.
Because of the reminder of a few episodes that it contains, (e.g macrocosm, the pitcher plant thing, basics, scorpion, plus others)

Plus, of all the Chakotay-centered episodes, "Shattered" was the only good one.

Also, why has nobody listed "Threshold"?

"Threshold" was actually a good episode. It made us realize how much worse Voyager could have been if they (the writers) wanted it to be. It's a shot across the bow! Don't piss us off or you'll get this for the rest of the seasons!

Threshold is such a weird episode. Not very many people like it because you're left thinking "Were the writers on drugs when they wrote it?"

Given the circumstances, it would be the kindest assumption.

I kind of like it, though I can understand how all the blatant nonsense can be incredibly annoying to many people. But at least, it's not a boring episode.

I don't know how they got from warp ten to giving birth to little lizards. BTW, lizards lay eggs so it's probably less painful than the mammalian way (except for the marsupials).

Sure, there's a lot of incomprehensible nonsense in the ep.

Still, that doesn't spoil an episode for me nearly as much as for example having someone act completely out of character, just because the script "requires" it (viz. a night in sickbay).

I don't know what was out of character in this episode:
Was it:

- Archer ignoring T'Pol's recommendations? Not really.

- Archer being a big pain in the butt? Nope.

- Archer's Priorities being out of whack? No.

This is harder than it looks. It's not just 'Pick your favorites'. Like, I want to include Course Oblivion but don't want to include Demon. I want to include Deadlock, but that means I have to include Phage. I want to include Child's Play, but that means I have to include Collective.

1. Caretaker
2. Phage
3. State Of Flux
4. Alliances
5. Death Wish
6. Deadlock
7. Basics
8. Future's End
9. Before And After
10. Scorpion
11. The Gift
12. Year Of Hell
13. Message In A Bottle
14. One
15. Night
16. Timeless
17. Bride of Chaotica
18. Relativity
19. Equinox
20. Pathfinder
21. Blink Of An Eye
22. Collective
23. Child's Play
24. Critical Care
25. The Void
26. Workforce

No finale. In this version, the show was unexpectedly cancelled, leaving us to wonder forever what the show could have been if it were given a chance.

I suppose it depends a bit upon how you look at archer as he would 'normally' be;)

(Anyway, I have a much larger issue with 'character damaging episodes' like that one, or 'fury', than with the likes of threshold.)

Oh it definitely isn't boring. Just out in left field. Like how do you go from trying to reach warp 10 to lizard babies!? As Tuvok would say, "The plot is illogical."

Or as Sarek said on TNG: "ILLOGICAL!! ILLOGICAL!! ILLOGICAL!!"

Ok, let's do this. Voyager only has a few 'essential' storylines:

- Getting Home / Contact with Earth
- Kazon / Seska
- The Borg / Borg children

Wow, this is really difficult. So many good episodes can't be included because of those 'essential' episodes:

1. Caretaker
2. Parallax (B'Ellanna first engineer)
3. State of Flux (Seska's betrayal)
4. Learning Curve (only ep that really deals with Maquis)
5. Cold Fire (caretaker's only 'sequel')
6. Alliances (Essential Kazon episode)
7. Basics (Kazon finale)
8. Future's End (Doctor's mobile emitter)
9. Fair Trade (Essential turning point for Neelix)
10. Before and After (Essential Kes ep, YoH prequel)
11. Scorpion + The Gift (Seven + Kes farewell. I refuse to include Fury!)
12. Day of Honor (early Seven + Paris/B'Ellanna relationship)
13. Year of Hell (one of the best episodes)
14. Message in a Bottle (First contact with Earth)
15. Living Witness (one of the best episodes)
16. Hope and Fear
17. Extreme Risk (B'Elanna deals with her Maquis roots)
18. Timeless (one of the best episodes)
19. Equinox (Voyager's dark vision of what could've been)
20. Pathfinder (Essential contact with Earth ep)
21. Blink of an Eye (one of the best episodes)
22. Collective (Borg children)
23. Unimatrix Zero
24. Imperfection (Borg children farewell)
25. Homestead (Neelix farewell)
26. Endgame

I cheated on Scorpion + The Gift, because I really, really wanted to include 'Extreme Risk'!

Hey, that's not a bad list, plus you got all the pivotal ones.

Okay. So I read the thread question wrong. I thought it was put the best/favourite episodes into one season. Oh well.

I think it's more like putting together a season that people can watch without being too puzzled by sudden unexplained changes. Preserve the continuity as much as possible.

23. Child's Play

25. The Void
26. Workforce

Hey I like that! Would be even better if the series ended after Workforce Part 1. That way, they all found a new home, sort of... (except Harry Kim, but he doesn't deserve one anyway)

Harry ends up chronically sick to his stomach because the doctor turned ECH permanently and forgot the antidote for the meat thing he's drunk.
