If STNG were remastered...

Would you prefer to see a mix of traditional mattes paintings with CGI, or all-cgi ones like Enterprise was. It occurred to me after looking at the latest matte from TOS-R that some of the good quality mattes in STNG could also be redone in 3D fashion. There really would be no edict that they would have to make them look like FX of the day. A CGI matte would not be too far off.

It'd be nice if they didn't reuse that damn background from Angel One the number of times they did.

I have no preference.

Here's a good example, a decent 2D matte shot, but improved in STNEM!

^^^^ that's exactly the type of difference I'd love to see in TNG. I'd spend ridiculous amounts of money on DVD sets if they did that.

Did you hear Paramount???? I'd spend RIDICULOUS amounts of money!!!!!!

I much prefer the original TNG 2D mattes (with their blending of paintings and foreground models) to nearly anything they have put out since, but it would be nice if they were able to reduce the number of reused mattes they were forced to use for budget reasons. Still I wouldn't object to a nice blending of the two formats if they could stay true to the original. TOS-R has done a pretty good job in that department, but they had a slightly higher bar to reach.

Paramount figures you'll do the same with a lot less effort on their part.

Nope, haven't bought a single DVD set for anything. The only Trek related things I've bought are:

1. Wrath of Khan SE DVD.
2. Playmates TNG Phaser
3. ERTL Enterprise D with Fiber Optic Lights AND the Refit Galaxy Kit from Starship Modeler (and I still have all this stuff in the box lol, haven't had time to even start it :( )

That's pretty much it. I would consider purchasing the TNG Series if they remastered it like TOS-R.

i would not want it if they made obvious changes. the backgrounds are ok, but if you add obviously computer generated elements where they were not originally intended it doesnt look right

I want full-out CGI. Get rid of all that damn stock footage and the oft-repeated matte paintings.
While I do think that TNG could benefit from some better CGI in a few instances... I don't think there are too many where it would make a difference.

So, who cares if the planet they orbit this week looks like the one from 2 years ago? Personally, I don't

^^^^ The Star Wars Prequels failed (storywise at least) because exactly that, the story was utter crap.

The FX had nothing to do with it, and in fact, had the story been on par with the originals, people would praise them royally.

I like them just fine the way they are now.

And that's why your name is Nerdius Maximus lol ;)

I think he was referring to the remastered OT.
