If Star Trek Beyond fails

Look, all I can say for sure is it will make at least what the cost of four movie tickets will be in 2016. If it bombs, it's going to be the fault of others, not my family's.

(The fact that one of the actors IN the film is co-writing it? That's even better. )

"Guess what? Star Trek V is being directed by Captain Kirk himself, so you know it's going to be the best one yet!" :)

Just teasing. Pegg's a talented guy so I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt.

It's more important that one of the actors is co-writing the film than directing it.

And besides, the very LEAST of TFF's problems was its director.

Make that eight tickets. Me, the wife and two boys will be there.

Didn't Shatner co-write The Final Frontier?

It's not going to fail.

I don't think it will either. But someone trying to use the attachment of an actor to the writing as an indicator of success hasn't been paying attention.

If it's a good movie, I believe people will be there.

If it fails, Abrams will be imprisoned for his crimes.
And Paramount, having realized the error of their ways, will give the keys to the Real Fans of Trek, along with 500 million dollars to make a True Star Trek movie.

I would also expect an official apology issued to Trek fandom for what they've put us through since 2009 with assurances that whenever a new caretaker for the franchise is selected they will be screened to see if they know where a zero goes in a number. Hint: not at the start.

I'm still waiting for an apology for "The Alternative Factor." :)

^^Apology? The dude in that episode had an awesome beard, that more than makes up for how crappy an episode it was.

Add two more tickets, as me and my friend will be going on opening night.

Okay, how about making Julie Newmar play a heavily pregnant woman in "Friday's Child" instead of a slinky alien seductress?

Now that was a crime against humanity.

That was saved by the fact that she was still smokin' hot, regardless of the pregnancy.

Darkness was so bad, it will have put a lot of casual Trek watchers off. I can see Beyond struggling to around $400m box office worldwide.

I think we might be at the point where diminishing returns will start to kick in.

Hope that is not the case seeing how much TDKR and Furious 7 made more than the second film including skyfall

I wouldn't worry, Dales. The poster you quoted tends to have a habit of making ridiculous assertions of how bad Abrams's films did at the box office without quoting any such source for his claims, which aren't true anyway as BillJ pointed out. Now he seems to have developed a supernatural quality of gauging the responses of casual fans everywhere about STID.

I'm a fan who wore a t-shirt, cargo shorts, and flip flops to STID, and it's my favorite Trek movie. :techman:

I was at STID opening weekend. Three times. My girlfriend and I'll be there at least twice for STB.
