Assuming SNW continues up until Pike's accident, whether it has time skips or not, should The Menagerie be remade (or rather recontextualized) with the new cast as the final episode of the series? Ideally using the exact or almost exact same dialogue and plot, but maybe from Pike's perspective via internal monologue?

As long as they don’t do it on a holodeck, sure. :bolian:

No, they don't. That's what the Menagerie is for.
Well maybe they should just do a directors cut of these two episodes with new special effects and it can be viewed on the holodeck of the Enterprise D by Commander Riker and Deanna Troi, this time not during ‘Pegasus’… but perhaps in ‘Man of the People’ instead? I said no holodeck but if ‘The Menagerie’ can’t be remade this could be a good option.

RIKER: Computer, end simulation.
TALOSIAN 1: When should we tell him he's not on the holodeck?
TALOSIAN 2: We'll wait another episode.
:)

^^ There is no good option to remake or reconceptualize. The Menagerie already exists in Trek canon, and Pike does get a happy ending. We saw that sixty years ago. No need to draw it out.

A lot of years have gone by, so..."happy ending" is debatable. Particularly in modern times.

I mean, why does it need to be done? It's already available to watch.

No.

And you know what? We don't need to see the accident, either. The show can end with that event still in the future.

Technically they already showed their version of the accident in the Disco episode and it's re-used in the SNW waking nightmares haunting Pike. If they do catch up to that time and actually show it I hope they alter it so it fits the more heroic TOS description of Pike going into save the remaining cadets versus him already in the room when it explodes and telling the cadets standing around to vacate and then getting caught in an explosion to save a wounded cadet.

In the last episode Spock goes to Talos to pick up the crippled Pike and take him to the Majalan planet where he is reunited with his other girlfriend and also where they have great doctors and can fix him.

If anything I think they should show Pike post-Menagerie. It doesn't have to be some crazy adventure or anything. Maybe something on Talos where we see him finally at peace, after all stress he's been under for the past decade. It could be a reversal of the finale to Babylon 5, where his closest friends gather to celebrate his continued life. But I'd be happy if he just had a final conversation with Spock after all the sacrifices they pulled for one another.

I actually have trust in the writers in this regard. They did all the right moves regarding Pike's fate so far.

It's clear they have to do something at the end. But I guess it's more about another revelation, or finding inner peace. I'm guessing they'll end up somewhat shortly before the accident. Maybe they'll let him know this isn't really the end.
I wonder if Vina will make a re-appereance.

But I absolutely doubt (and don't want) them to remake the menagerie. Wouldn't even be possible. (Although - who knew they were going to remake "Balance of Terror"?).

I actually think we're going to see less and less of Pike grappling with his fate. And in the end, it will end on a positive note, that's only saddened by what we know will come, not be explicitly shown.

While I would love to see a remake of the Menagerie, I would want the final episode to be a regular episode and Pike handing the keys over to Kirk and for George Kirk, Sr. (granted I don't think Chris Hemsworth would be easy to get given his stardom.) (and Junior) to appear to see Kirk off on his 5 year mission.
