Yeah... in my experience, many people don't even seem to realize that Star Trek (also known as Star Track) is a different show than Star Wars, so expecting them to differentiate between TOS and TNG is giving them too much credit... but they do at least know that bumpy Klingons exist, and that Captain Kirk and Mister Spock are on the Starship Enterprise (also known as the Startrek Enterprise).

I wasn't under the impression that non-SF fans even had an idea of what Klingons look like. They know that Star Trek (or Star Wars... they aren't sure which) has bad guys called Klingons, but do you really think many average Joes have a mental image of them?

I wasn't a fan of Star Trek a few years ago but I knew what Klingons looked like. I've never seen Star Wars and I still know all about Chewbacca, Ewoks, and the whole incest thing going on there.
