If Dr Who was an anime...

What, no multi-Doctor bit? Sutekh reeealllly takes the fanwank there to a whole new level.:rommie: But, yeah, loved the Cybermen in this one too.

First came across that a year ago or so and thought it was great then and think it's great now! Very well done.

I've only watched a little so far, but it's excellent! The Third Doctor really is the perfect choice for an anime take!

Yeah, I didn't like it. The animation, colour scheme, and character design was too cyberpunkish. Not really the look I had in mind for a Doctor Who cartoon.

^The cyberpunk look is what makes it all work for me and I'm not even that big of an anime fan.

Yeah, same here. It was great seeing Pertwee's normal dashing style juxtaposed with a new aesthetic (by the way, it was a nice touch to have the Third Doctor land in super-flashy Tokyo -- and sarcastically remark how "impressive" it was). What's the point of adapting the show to another genre if you're not going to adopt that genre's style?

Anime isn't a genre; it's a medium. Anime just means "cartoon made in Japan" and has no specific styles or genre. The visual styles in Japanese animation are just as diverse if not more so than American animation. There is no distinctive anime style.

I admit the video is well done, but the Cyberpunk look has always made me feel nauseous. I'm not entirely sure what it is, but my stomach just doesn't like it. This shot alone made me glad I hadn't ate anything for a while:

Considering there are still a few Pertwee stories left to be released on DVD, and 2 Entertain included the excerpts from the Devious fan film in the War Games set, it'd be cool if they included this trailer as a bonus on one of the last Pertwees. It certainly has more relevance than those weird TARDIScam things they used to have on the DVDs...

Doctor Who as an anime-- as if we needed a way to make Doctor Who even more obscure & expensive!

I like the look though. If they made it an actual series, or even just a feature length movie, I'd probably buy it.

Yep ... I'd buy it, too. But I'd hope it had a bit less action going on. There comes a point where too many explosions, gunshots, laser beams, fusion beams, and sword fights start to become pointless. Particularly when that seems to be all that's going on.

But ... get someone who can do good impressions of the voices used and a fair script behind it, and you'll have me as a fan.

I'm actually surprised they haven't done an animated Doctor Who show yet. It seems like it would fit the series perfectly. There's The Infinite Quest, but that's not a full blown series like Star Trek: TAS or Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Honestly, I didn't like "The Infinite Quest." Part of that was probably just a result of its original format as a series of internet shorts, resulting in a story that moves quickly but doesn't really feel like it's staying anywhere long enough to develop an interest.

Was "Dreamland" any good?
