Humphrey Bogart was just barely 58 years old when he died in January of 1957--still a fairly young man by today's standards. He did some of his best work at the end of his life, branching out into new and interesting roles such as Queeg in "The Cain Mutiny" and the work he did on "The African Queen" or "We're No Angels". Had Bogie lived another 15 or 20 years, what roles do you see him having played into the 1960', 70's or maybe even into the 1980's?
The first thing I thought of was him playing the Martin Balsam role of Arbogast in "Hitchcock's "Psycho" in 1960. Would Bogie have shown up as a celebrity villain the the 1960's "Batman" TV show? Could he have played "Columbo" on TV ( a role CREATED for Bing Crosby, who was only slightly younger than Bogart).
Can you envision Bogart in one of the "Airport" movies or "Earthquake"? What would Bogart have been like as "Quint" in "Jaws"?
I'm interested to see which roles you might think Bogart would have appeared in had he lived. He was a major MAJOR talent gone too soon.
