IDW's TNG "Intelligence Gathering" series

I saw issue 1 at the comic store today and did a bit of research as to exactly HOW new it is... Boy was I glad to see that this is a brand new series and issue 2 ain't even out yet! That means I can easily pick up the next issue when it comes out instead of having to hunt for old ones!

This seems like a really interesting story! Issue 1 totally hooked me into it and I can't wait for the next one!

Uh, what is the typical release date for these issues, anyway? So I know when to go to the store and buy the next one.

It’s a monthly, but the exact week the issues come out in varies a lot from issue to issue (though slightly more seem to come out at the very end of the month/first week of the next month).

This first issue didn't really blow me away, but it was interesting enough and enjoyable so I'm looking forward to the rest of the series and what the big story in the series will be about.

Monthly.

A lot of different ST mini-series have been scheduled for later in 2008. IDW will aim for weekly releases by the time we get to the "Second Stage" stories (ie. at the moment, each mini-series has had five or six monthly issues, followed about a month later by reprints in a graphic novel omnibus format). So a different issue of something Star Trek-related should be arriving weekly, give or take delays, rather like episodes appearing on TV.

Why not ask your comic shop to put issues of "Intelligence Gathering" away for you? Doesn't your comic shop post a list of the week's "coming comics" on their front window? You can also access the Diamond Distributors' web site for weekly release lists.

I agree! Issue #1 was very strong.

Which will be in full swing by the final issue of this miniseries. I'm not confident though, they said they would aim for fortnightly issues when they started doing two issues a month and they've been nothing close to achieving that. I'm expecting we'll get one comic one week, then nothing for two, then three all in one go, etc (eg what we have now but with twice the number of issues coming out)

As far as I know... no they don't. And I'm a tad reluctant to ask for holds or reservations on stuff. I just show up and hope for the best! ;)

So... Monthly... that means it ends in... *calculates* Late May. Darn, I might be back home by the time the last one comes out. I only hope the comic store back home keeps up with these as well!

I've been using the New Comic Book Releases List for several years. It's a weekly list of comics shipped. It used to be just a mailing list, but these days you can read the list at the website or subscribe to an RSS feed. The mailing list works well for me to keep track of IDW shipments.

This week's list is at http://www.comiclist.com/newreleases.php

Comic shops here in Australia are in the habit of taping a copy to their front window, or in a frame at the cashier's desk.

Does the mailing list include the religious content? Do they screen out material they don't approve of?

Except for the ichthys symbol in the title image, there isn't any religious content. The weekly New Comic Book Releases List provides shipping information for content from Diamond Comics Previews. Diamond Comics has a separate catalog (Previews Adult) for adult content which isn't included in the mailing list but can be viewed at the website. I'm not aware of any content from the standard edition of Previews screened from the mailing list.

The website is pretty difficult to navigate. The mailing list is much cleaner.
