OK, I think I covered alot in the thread title and I don't know if this requires a spoiler warning or not but in case it does ... SPOILER

Am I the only one to think that the Countdown prequel series would have made a hell of a Trek X leading up to this movie.

Replace Shinzon/Remans with Nero and the miners.

It would have made a great send off to the TNG crew, better then they got and would have better tied in the new crew and look changes of Trek XI.

Plus it is a far more compelling story then Nemesis was. It could have been left a cliff hanger at the end of Trek X - What happened to Nero? What about Spock and the Jellyfish? Open Trek XI and continue to tell the story.

I then wondered if someone would put together an animated version of the story, sort of like Animatrix did for the Matrix. Make it a Trek 10.5 and send it straight to DVD.

Thoughts? Flames?

Many things would be better than Nemesis.
An adaptation of the Countdown comics certainly has the potential to be one of those things.

I also would enjoy seeing an animated version of it. Maybe if Trek XI is a success, such projects will be examined and considered more seriously.

I guess the issue is that if Trek X had been successful, there would have been a TNG Trek XI, and we wouldn't have J.J. to kick around.

Then, in a perverse way, I'm glad Nemesis didn't lead in to several more TNG films because I'm eager to see Kirk and Spock, such as they are, back in the movies. Don't misunderstand me; I love TNG and would love to have more TNG too, if to have more TNG were possible.

Such a premise would almost demand that the TNG crew be directly involved with XI, I think, and there's already been a big-screen crossover (of sorts). Though, the way you propose to do it would indeed be creative.
