I
never understand this stance. "We want more Myriad/Mirror Universe stories" but "JJ Abrams' stuff shouldn't be an alternate timeline/universe"?
Well as someone with grievances against the Abramsverse, I object to the following things including but not limited to: an
Enterprise crew way too young and hasn't done shit to properly earn their ranks, Blingons, white Khan, white Khan's superblood, transwarp beaming in the 23rd century, Delta Vega in Vulcan's solar system, Earth never has any defenses besides the
Enterprise, Nyota Uhura knows shit about Vulcans despite being a Starfleet officer, Starfleet officers could get all the way to Qo'noS without getting caught before reaching planetside, Qo'noS is less than a day away, the
Vengeance is the biggest-ass Federation ship ever but is built and launched in less than a year, no returning major established
Star Trek species besides Vulcans as exemplified by deciding to have Orions and tons of unknown generic non-human species instead of Andorians or Tellarites, Section 31 has a secret starbase in the Sol System and lots of personnel at their disposal so how are they supposed to be a rogue secret agency, no design lineage transition between ENT/pre-TOS ships to Abramsverse ships, etc.
And I do object somewhat object to Abrams/Orci/Kurtzman's interpretation of temporal physics to create the Abramsverse but that's not really important. Now, I don't know how everybody feels, but I think it is not inaccurate to say that lots of people feel that the Abramsverse is an extremely poorly delivered alternate quantum reality. And that is why we prefer
Mirror Universe and
Myriad Universes.
