Ideas for Another Grand Theft Auto...

I want more freedom...

I don't know if it's because I haven't played San Andreas in a good while, but I felt like gta iv was more limited, more closed than San Andreas. I missed having a parachute, I missed the planes.. Thought the city was too small.

I would also like to be able to save the game more frequently, maybe have checkpoints during missions that you spawn back into? - Only one mission had this in gta iv..

Military and tanks. I haven't been able to get the 6 star rating yet, only 5, so I don't know if this is already implemented in IV or not, but I would like to drive a tank now and then

GODMODE CHEAT!!!! - Now I don't use cheats to complete the missions, I do however use them when I want to go on some rampage, and creating havoc just for fun.

But if they did gta london like some of you suggested, would that mean having to drive on the opposite side of the road? , I think that would be frustrating to a lot of players , but then again, British people and whatnot have to play the opposite of what they're used to.. Haven't heard any complaints yet.

I don't think driving on the wrong side of the road would be an issue, especially if running red lights, running over pedestrians, blindsiding other cars and such isn't already an issue. :p

Hehe ;)

But do you really think there would be no complaints?, People love to complain, and this would be one of the things they would be complaining about (other than the whole running over pedestrians, unmoral game behavior etc.. :) )

In GTA London 1961/1969, cars did drive on the right side of the road, which is to say the left side. ;)

What about a period piece GTA?

I'd be more interested in that than yet another thing in a bustling westernised metropolis - and I honestly don't think a parody of London would be any more interesting than San Andreas or Liberty City. To be honest, the most interesting GTA locale so far has been (IMO) Vice City. That whole 80s beachside city vibe really, really worked for me.

Anyway, the GTA style of gameplay has never really grabbed me. I'd like to see a new GTA take a few baby steps towards 21st century game design. They could start with the controls. Then move on to the mission structure.

As said, I liked the back of beyond in San Andreas, with better draw distances, more realistic spawning, and sharper AI improving that kind of landscape. You could also find hidden Easter Egg dangers if you stray too far from the roads and small towns in the more remote areas: alligators in the swamps and inbred serial killers in the hills. Maybe even Bigfoot.

Here are some rough map sketches based on my idea of a GTA style Florida and Cuba:

They're sub-maps that can be put togther to make one big map of the whole play area.

I don't see the need for more savepoints (GTA IV already improved on this by adding the autosave function after every mission), however I would like the 'Trip Skip' feature to return - it's an utter pain to have to drive from A to B, then get killed and have to do the whole drive again.

The trouble is that tanks are big, and a lot of the roads are small - I just can't see a tank being practical. It might be fun, but how much fun would be lost trying to manoeuvre the thing?

Isn't there a Mafia 2 on the way?

Interestinly, Mafia is also from Take Two (2K to be more precise).

Save points aren't needed. The ability to save whenever you want to, something you should be able to do in every game these days, is needed.

I say a remake of GTA2, set in a futuristic city, is long overdue. :borg:

Then, a modern British version of GTA, with Jason Statham, Colm Meaney, Dick Van Dyke, and Madonna. :bolian:

I've been clamouring for a remake of the 60s GTA London for a long time. There's only so many times the creators can go to the well of American cities like Liberty, Vice, and San Andreas.

I think if they redo GTA London, it should remain in the 1960s. A period GTA is what we need, I think. Vice City was the most interesting one for me, coz of the 80s flavour.

And I love the 1930s Depression-era Chicago idea mentioned in a post above.

Set it in LA, and have various missions be based on films like Leathal Leapon II, or Predator 2, Die Hard ect.

I'd also like more destructible scenery.

If a shop has a window you should be able to smash it, then next time you drive past it, its boarded up, then after that back to normal.

A return of the Hari Crishnas would be nice.

And would it kill them to have two guys carrying a big peice of glass across the street?
