Icy Penguigo's Adventures in Modelling Windows!

As some of you know, modelling windows on my ships has been kind of a sticking point for me. Especially when it comes to putting them in curved or complex surfaces. I just wanted to show you guys the fruits of my labors so far. Thanks to everyone that gave me advice to get me rolling on this!

So far, I've been using booleans. I've been very careful to avoid having the windows intersect any edges, mainly to avoid the vertex-optimizing nightmare that will follow. I'll probably run into more problems as this gets more complex, so I'll probably hit you guys up for help again. ;)

Well, you could have picked something with less windows than a Romulan to start off with. lol I'd say that by the time you're finished you're learning curve will be all flattened out.

P.S. The model rocks!!!

What can I say? I live on the edge.

And thanks.

Ahh booleans... Can be your best friend or your worst enemy! Rommy ship looks great!

The only suggestion is to have the windows "pucker out" like the filming model did. It's a neat visual distinction that would fit here nicely.

Great job so far!

What advice have you been getting? I'd like to learn the technique of cutting windows into curved/complex surfaces myself.
