Icheb... discuss!

I heard the actor who plays Icheb is a bit of a tool. Didn't mind him much, but at times, I felt introducing the Borg kiddies was a lame attempt to transform Seven into a Borg mommy. (A kind of lame sitcom within a drama.) They already had a Borg trying to be human character, for crying out! -- RR
I saw the Borg Kids as an example of other innocent lives the Borg ruins. All of their behavior is way off for children, a little to stiff and calculated. They might never have a normal childhood due to it. I didn't see them as Borg tying to be human, I saw them as the after affects of child abuse. That's very sad.:(

I agree with your analysis. It shows how difficult it is to integrate children back into normal lives after abuse, or if they've been abducted and held by other people for years, then returned to their original family. It's a tough road. -- RR

An interesting analysis - never thought of it that way before.

If Seven's story was regaining her humanity after years of brainwashing and abuse by the Borg, why wouldn't the kids suffer the same way?;)

The after affect was Seven learning to be responsible for someone other than herself. A lesson she needed to learn after sending Species 8472 over to the Hirogen to die. She needed someone to identify with first, inorder to learn that lesson. However, the point of the Borg children as touched upon in "Collective", was to show child abuse caused by the Borg. Seven was their anchor in deprogramming. They also needed someone to indentify with and relate too.

I liked Icheb, he was my favorite reaccuring character.

His acting was meant to be stiff, all the Borg kids acted that way due to Borg brainwashing. I liked how he was a mentor to the Borg kids without coming off as a know it all. Plus, thanks to Icheb's virus, Adm. Janeway had a template to use to infect the Borg in "Endgame". He wasn't mature enough to act like a total adult but wasn't an annoying prick like Wesley either. Unlike Wesley, Icheb never over stepped his bounderies.
I pretty much agree with all of this. :techman:
I liked Icheb and all of the Borg kids. Their interactions with Seven were fun to watch.
