I would have liked to have seen some full sized Dinosaurs.

Distant Origin was superb, but as long as they were dealing with Humaniform-dinosaurs couldn't they have also been able to have something else surviving form earths history granted some screen time... Or even just out and out massive alien dinosaurs on an alien world, but just the thought of Tuvok giving a T-Rex a Vulcan nerve Pinch or Tom trying to thin a flock of pterodactyls trying to snack on his wife who had just unfortunatately sprained her ankle got me all cre... Or Neelix talking about making Spare Ribs the size of a shuttle and Tom mentioning the Flintsones...

The CGI was available if not costly when you consider the thousands of dollars spent to make that worm which ate Hogan appear on screen for a small muber of seconds...

Where, when and how would you have employed dinosaurs into the overall story?

Well , there are 2 possibilities:

1. time travel millions year back - not a very good idea but they could have ended on Earth in about Cretaciuos (sp?) period among some of the most dangerous and biggest dinosaurs... they loose communications, shullte with away team crash landes and we've got some Jurassic Park with 24th C twist. I don't like this idea too much, but if well written (and believably) it could have been done this way

2. I think a much better way would be to try to include some alien dinosaurs, maybe enen bigger than "ours", on some alien world. It could go alogn the lines as the first version, or the dinos could be intelligent....there's not a limit to the size of the intelligent life-form...is there?

2.

They should have unleashed their most terrible weapon in history...Barney the Purple Dinosaur.

Voyager lands on an unfamiliar planet that has chronic earthquake tremors. Soon they realize the ship has landed on the back of a gigantic sized dinosaur creature. It takes hours for this humungous creature to rise from a laying down position to standing. The crew is time-challenged to repair ship and take off before the giant dinosaur becomes fully erect enuf to do unrepairable harm to ship.

How can't I be annoyed that they never really made more mobile holographic emitters since it was the product of 20th century engineering to one degree or another? Consider it like having infinite lives in a video game if Janeway had had a holographic army of "again" an infinite size to draw upon... And what about those fields used in VOY Flesh and Blood or DS9 Shadow Play?

Consider a difficult survey, and they think that mules or horses would be easier to use than "dune buggies" and if you think that Tom Paris is not going to play with variations on a theme that he won't be riding speedily across the plain on dinosaurss the size of taun tauns then you are under estimating this mans imagination somewhat.

The technology existed to have a xenomorphic mindless slave race on tap.

But if they could transform an open air vista of a hundred cubed kilomoetres, into retaining all the properties of a holodeck... What they could do would be indefferentiable from magic to some of the savage child races looking on that nothign would be left to chance ever again.
