I would actually buy a Fan Collective - Doctor's Log DVD set

I'm almost sure that, provided the people on startrek.com don't vote for Sub Rosa or A Night In Sickbay, it would be a quality box set.

Considering that fans voted for both Tribble episodes and Broken Bow on the Klingon box set I wouldn't count on it.This is a case where I would actually pull for the suits to make the choice because most of these fan collectives hae been inconsistent.

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out how TATV ended up as a fan pick for Archer in the Captain's Log. I actually just got the set, and that is the only fan pick I have a real problem with. I've been petty happy with the other sets though.

TATV ? Yeesh. There is no episode more reviled in fan circles than that one.Guess none of those people who voted frequent this forum.

^^ I was slightly surprised to see TATV as well. Didn't really have a problem with First Flight, but I thought the other episode should probably have been Twilight or Similitude.

I'd buy it if it was about the Doctor. Almost all the best Voyager episodes revolved around him in some way. :)

That does it.I say the next fan collective needs to be called "Trek BBS fan collective". We seem to know how these things should be done. ;)

Perhaps they'll eventually get around to doing the 'Voyager Fan Collective'. The sets usually hold 14/15 episodes don't they? That should be easily sufficient to cater for all the decent Voyager episodes. Actually, they might need to pad it out.....

I'm really curious to see Scott Bakula's intro for TATV, because I don't think I would have even wanted to talk about it if I was in that cast.

I could pretty much pick what I'd want on the DS9, VOY and ENT discs, but I can't really think of any standout McCoy or Crusher eps. I haven't really watched TOS or TNG in quite a while.

We shall pretend Pulaski never existed.

Friday's Child seems to be a McCoy episode, but its not really a standout episode in general, though. Maybe Devil in the Dark, since McCoy at least saves they day.

For TNG, there's Remember Me (the one where everyone else disapears besides her) or Suspicions.

I'm sure other people can think of good episodes, but those are some off the top of my head.

Re: I would actually buy a Fan Collective - Doctor's Log DVD

At the same time, McCoy has 'For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky', although that's not the best of episodes either.

Re: I would actually buy a Fan Collective - Doctor's Log DVD

Include Polaski for the original Moriarty episode.

Re: I would actually buy a Fan Collective - Doctor's Log DVD

Include a number of Pulaski episodes. She's underrated. ;) "The Icarus Factor" might be a nice one.

Re: I would actually buy a Fan Collective - Doctor's Log DVD

^^ Dear lord, if it's Crusher that means they'd probably include Sub Rosa!!!!

Attached would probably be another one, The Host too, and probably The High ground. Wasn't Suspicions Crusher-centric as well?

Hmmmmm. You're right. That certainly might be a set worth looking into.

Come to think of it, the Doctor has been one of the more consistent crew positions in terms of quality when it comes to Trek. I mean, McCoy is an all-time favorite; Crusher, admittedly, was the weakest of the doctors, but at least fleshed-out a great character in Picard; Bashir had one of DS9's better character arcs in how we got to see him mature throughout the show's run; The Doctor was one of Voy's best characters; And after Tucker, Phlox may have been Ent's second-best or third-best character.

Overall, that's a pretty decent line-up.

As for episodes, though it was Worf-centric, I really wouldn't mind seeing "Ethics" included among Crusher's episodes. I think people forget how good she was in that one. And as for the Doctor, "Critcal Care" in a no-brainer.

Re: I would actually buy a Fan Collective - Doctor's Log DVD

Yeah, Suspicions is a HUGE Crusher ep. If I remember correctly the whole thing is done from her perspective.

I would to think that if it is a true Fan Collective, that Sub Rosa wouldn't get enough votes. But, on the other hand TATV did get through, so I guess it isn't fool proof.
EDIT: Corrected spelling.

Re: I would actually buy a Fan Collective - Doctor's Log DVD

To be honest, I know a lot of TNG fans that actually love Sub Rosa. It seems to be one of those episodes that divides opinion, either a deep loathing, or a deep appreciation for it.

Obviously another one for a 'Doctors' set, Enterprise's Dear Doctor.

^
Let's not forget: "Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy". Hilarious episode. :)

Re: I would actually buy a Fan Collective - Doctor's Log DVD

"Living Witness" is the obvious exceptional Dr episode, though there are other very good ones, the one with the shrinking ship from TNG was very good, a couple of other Crusher ones - "Our Man Bashir" is a must, ermm, "The World Is Hollow..." probably the obvious one from TOS though there are better McCoy moments in other episodes.
