I wondered.... (duty/ discussed topics)

I don´t know if other countries have heard about "Stuttgard 21", but I just wondered.... lots of the people in Stuttgard sort off rebell against the project, because they don´t want it (Agree with them!).
If you are in the police and you actually agree with the people, but still have to go against them, because it is your duty... that would be quite a conflict.
Would you risc loosing your job and stand up for what you believe is right or would you do your job no matter what?
(Generel question...but came to mind when watching the latest news about Stuttgard 21 and the so called civil disobidience.)

Also I just wondered, what are THE topics in the news at the moment in your countries, besides the "global ones"? Here it is nuclear-energy (grrr...!!! This rediculous government never had my trust to beginn with, but now I know they will never ever ever get it...not that they care.) and migration and with this also still education (thats pretty interessting, though Sarrazin is rediculous and extreme, but the discussion itself about how well migrants are integrated into this society and what has to be done to integrate them and what should be done with people who do not want to be intigrated at all and just refuse...like those clans that use the social staate as much as they can, but do not integrate themselves at all and contribute, but more the opposite, getting criminal etc.).Whats your opinion to nuclear energy and migration?

Oh and one other question: Hows the mood of the people towards your government at the moment? I have the feeling here it slowly builds up to explosion.

Well, the only thing happening on this side of the pond is that any European teenager who gets drunk and calls Obama a p***k (whatever that is) is banned for life from ever entering the United States.

But not to worry. If he joins Al Qaeda or a Mexican drug cartel he can still come and go as he chooses. :)

And another issue that desperately needs to be addressed: Lab techs who have access to chemicals.

A Northeastern University lab tech’s suspected suicide by cyanide - 30 miles away from campus - is raising public safety fears over easy access to deadly chemicals days after the ninth anniversary of 9/11.

The 30-year-old NU lab tech - identified by the school as Emily Staupe - was found dead early yesterday morning in her Milford bedroom along with what initial tests show was a plastic bag filled with crystallized cyanide, according to Milford and state police.

Neil Livingstone, a Washington, D.C., terrorism expert, said Staupe’s apparent method of suicide shines a light on the problem of lax security at universities across the country.

"This should be a wake-up call," said Livingstone, president of ExecutiveAction.

"What if her name were Mohammed Atta (a leader of the 9/11 plot) instead?

"If she’d been a bad guy and gotten hold of a significant amount of cyanide . . . who knows?" Livingstone said. "Cyanide is a good weapon of assassination or for killing a small number of people."

David Procopio, a spokesman for the state police, which is probing Staupe’s death, said it’s unclear how Staupe got the cyanide to Milford.

I'm shocked, shocked, that chemists are allowed access to chemicals. We must stop this at once, because chemists can use chemicals to make other chemicals, and use those chemicals to make still more chemicals. In fact, the only safe thing to do is to have the government prevent chemists from having any access to atoms, because a chemist can take a hydrogen, a carbon, and a nitrogen, and then whammo - they've got a hydrogen cyanide molecule.

Who's with me?

To sum up the general Canadian attitude towards the federal goverment over the past few years:

General discontentment, occasional anger, mixed with an overwhelming feeling of malaise and hopelessness.
