I'm not sure whether this belongs here or in the fanfiction fourm but I'm sure a mod will move it to wherever necessary... but...
I've been reading a couple of TNG novels and fanfictions on fanfiction.net and wanted to do my own!
I'm currently working on a novelization of 'Lower Decks' but I also want to do a TNG novel that's not a novelization of any episode already of existance.
Both novels take place during Season 7 of the show. MY episode takes place between "Bloodlines" and "Firstborn". I was originally going to title it "Possessions" but unfortunatelly, there's already a TNG novel by that name. So then I named it "Hauntings" but I get the feeling I'll have to shelve that title too considering the kind of plot I have in order.
I want this novel to guess-star two characters from Deep Space Nine Jadzia Dax and Benjamin Sisko. As far as the DS9 timeline goes, being that TNG 7 takes place the same time as DS9 2, I was thinking maybe putting this DURING "Shadowplay"?
You know how Enterprise's finale took place during "The Pegasus"? That's what I'm trying to do here.
I'm commissioning this novel to have ten chapters. Here's the proposed sypnopsis...
"Ben Sisko and Jadzia Dax boards the Enterprise when it rendezvous with Deep Space Nine via a runabout that Picard, Riker, Worf, and Data use to travel over to the Gamma Quadrant, unknowingly crossing through Mercenary territory who ambush their ship in retaliation. Troi exhibits in strange behaviors and acts of violence, and even finds herself periodically shifting in a different reality, when she is eventually asked to join Picard, Data, Riker, and Worf on their away-mission to the Gamma Quadrant. But as it turns out, [a male character] lets his romantic interest in Troi drive him to insanity as he makes a dangerous attempt to force her to love him (Like the storylines in "Liasons" and "Sub Rosa"). When they do make it to the Gamma Quadrant, their visitation turn into a fight for survival."
My problem, first of all, I never knew who I wanted the antagonists to be, so I just brought back the Mercenaries from "Gambit 1 & 2". Now that I mention them, I have to ask. Speaking of "Gambit" when the Mercenaries joined Picard/Gaylyn and Baran got mad about it, he tried to use his control device on Picard and accidentally used it on himself instead. Was that fatal? If not, I'll bring him back for this novel.
Also, it took some time but in order to get that plot, I had to jot down all ideas I had that I wanted to see in a TNG episode. I wrote down EVERYTHING I desired, even the little things I've seen in pre-existing TNG episodes.
That's how I got that plot.
I just have the constant writer's blocks. Ugh. They're so annoying! Also, with that plot, I'm trying to piece all the scenerios together so they work. But it's a little difficult.
Any help you guys can offer is well-appreciated!

SPOILER ALERT: Here's some finished material I have so far. Tell me what you think!
Also, you know how the corridors looked in "Dark Page" when Troi was in her mom's mind? That's how dark they are in this scene...
****************************************
“Data, wait!” Troi pleaded as she scurried down the dark corridor after him. “I need to talk to you!”
But he was ignoring her as he rounded a corner, out of the intersecting avenue. Troi rounded that very corner and was taken aback by what she saw. She stood dead in her tracks, in the middle of the avenue. Her jaw descended. Data now had a womanly figure that matched hers. The now-feminized Data even had Troi’s hair - the beautiful Cinderella style with the gentle waves and the roll of hair woven in a triangle formation on the crown area. How the hell was this possible? The Data version of Troi pivoted to face her real counterpart. She had the uniform that looked exactly the same as Troi’s - a one-piece full-body uniform except that it wasn’t blue. It was still yellow. She looked miraculously exactly like her blue-uniformed-counterpart, except that her same pale face and same gold eyes also remained unchanged, and she was still an android. The rank pips were left unchanged too – a black pip and two full-golden pips for the rank of a Lieutenant Commander.
“Computer, locate Lieutenant Commander Data,” the real genuine Troi ordered.
“Lieutenant Commander Data is not on board the enterprise,” the computer told her once again.
“Then who is this crewmember I am seeing who looks just like me? Identify her... or him, or whoever this is.”
“Unknown,” said the computer.

Creepy, isn't it!!! Now this is another scene with dark corridors like in "Masks" and "Genesis"

The corridors weren’t the way she was used to seeing them. They were pitch dark, only lit by the faded orange emergency lights that barely shone. The last time she had seen the corridors this dark was when Data was possessed by ancient archives that made a failed attempt to invade the Enterprise. Here she stood, still in uniform, in the middle of darkness. Troi held in her hand a small C-shaped flashlight that flared down the dark corridor. Her heart trembled with fear as she timidly took a few steps down the eerie darkness. She spotlighted something scarier. Deanna was even more afraid when she noticed the bloody handprints that were smeared on the gray walls, as well as a couple of the doors.
