I want an iPod Touch

I'd buy an iTouch if I wasn't already close to the storage limit. We'll see if they come out with a 64GB model.

Actually now is a pretty bad time to buy an iPod Touch.... as there will most likely be a new version released in September which will probably get a storage bump and include the faster CPU/more RAM that the iPhone 3GS has.

If the current one suits your needs, then go for it... but I know some people get antsy when they buy a product just to have a new one released a few months later. People like me, for instance ;)

I've been looking at getting an iPod touch for a while now. I've filled up my paltry little 4 gig nano. I'll hopefully have enough within a few weeks.

If you keep thinking that way, you'll never buy one.

Naw, you just wait until a new one comes out and buy then... then by the time a new one is released, enough time has passed to not be actively upset. iPods are updated pretty much yearly and generally in September, so for people who may be bothered by it, what's wrong with syncing a purchase up to the release schedule?

One thing to bear in mind is that the iPod Classic has a hard drive while the iPod Touch relies on the more expensive Flash memory. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

To be honest, I'm looking to upgrade my mp3 player too as I'm running rapidly out of space on my old player, and she canna take any more music. I'm trying to look outside the iPod box, though.

Well, as long as you remember that October is iPod month, June is iPhone month and most of the time, January is laptop month, you'll be ok.

If only the ipod Touch could respond to the command: Two to beam up. :(

Kinda like "Hello Computer"

All right, here's the update.

I got impulsive and bought the 16GB iPod Touch today because Best Buy had them on sale. Awesome.

I then went to Walmart and bought the charger/FM tuner thingy (much like the one you have Michael Chris).

I also transferred a few albums just to test it out, and it works great.

Now I have to work on transferring my entire CD library onto my computer (I bought the MacBook about 2 months ago and still haven't gotten around to doing that!).

I need to get a new iPod (I currently have a generation 5 iPod Video). I'm looking at getting a Touch, but it seems like overkill since I'd never use it for anything other than mp3s.

Just in the last couple hours that I have been playing with mine, I am realizing there are so many more things on here that I will end up using. I'm very excited.

I'm hoping they announce a bigger classic, I've filled up my 120gig.

Kind of Mac/iPod general question. Does anyone use MobileMe? What do you think about it?

I've used MobileMe (formerly .Mac) for about two years. Despite it's rocky re-launch, it is rock solid now.

The features I use:

iDisk, great for sharing files, keeping stuff synced between more than one computer and having files available to you anywhere there is a PC or Mac with an internet connection. I use it to keep stuff accessible to my laptop when my desktop is off and to send files between the two.

Mail, pretty standard mail service but with the iPhone (and I assume iPod touch) it enables push mail, which is nice and saves battery life.

I also use it for 'Back to my Mac' which lets me access my desktop files or control the whole system remotely from my laptop.

Also, it's web space if you publish web sites from iWeb, etc. And you can share calenders, photo albums, etc with it as well.

If all you need is mail and some online storage, there are free options out there. But if you want additional features and the sort-of 'total immersion experience' then it's well worth it.

A tip, don't buy it from Apple. Check Amazon and other online places (eBay, too I think) you can get it for less then $99/year.

Don't forget the App store. 50,000+ more things to do.
