I wanna go to a baseball game!

just had a bout of nostalgia . . . I used to go to see the Syracuse Chiefs with my dad and brother when I was a kid, and there was a man selling programs
"Get yer PROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOgrams!" he had this really funny way of saying it, and he was always there selling 'em. :D

Couldn't care less about baseball, but I imagine I'll be dragged to Camden Yards a few times over the summer as always. Thank god for the bar.

I would love to go there. The first of the current wave of retro-style ballparks. I'd treat it as a shrine.

I may go to Minnesota later this year and would dig seeing a Twins game. I was driving through there a few years back and planned to see a game since I knew they were home, only to pull up and find out it was day game that day (getaway day) and was too late.

I have nothing against the Twins but I would prefer waiting till next year. When *they* get a gloriously new ballpark! :techman: link - Target Field

(I have been to the Metrodome...wasn't too thrilled about it. There's something just...wrong...about baseball played indoors.)

There's just something right about minor league ball played in a nice small facility.

Each bit of me agrees with you ... except for bleacher seating, which is the norm in most minor league stadiums. I simply cannot sit in bleachers for more than 30 - 35 minutes at a time. :(

Yeah, bleachers suck. Fortunately PGE Park, which is where the Beavers play, doesn't have any that I'm aware of. Even the general admission seating features individual seats with backs. The only thing I don't like about the park is that the beer garden is actually located on the field, between the stands and the right field foul line. It's tough to enjoy a good microbrew when you've got to be watching every second for a foul ball, an errant throw to first base or the right fielder trying to snag a foul ball.

Wrigley Field's bleachers must be different than normal stadiums, because they're actually some of the more expensive tickets.

The first Sox game I'm going to this year is the Sox/Twin matchup :p

Kinda like the Green Monster seats. Really just a normal bleacher seat, just a lot more expensive. View is amazing, but still, you're paying a lot to be that far away...

I remember in elementary school we would have field-trips to A's games and sit in the bleachers. We would all pack brown-bag lunches and the teachers would hand out water and we'd wear our little hats and sunglasses...those were the days!

Well I don't have much say when I'll randomly be in Minny, so I'll take what I can get. Trust me, I'd prefer Target too.

Perhaps. As I said, I've never sat there before. But from what I've been told, they're the most fun seats in the park.

I've been up there twice, and it IS a blast. Great view, elbow room, little tables for food/drinks, private concession areas, and home run balls are coming your way. You might not be zoomed in on, but you're guaranteed to be on TV several times. Nothing like sitting in the front row under the signs, just a skybox view of the field.

All I was saying is that they're pretty expensive seats for being outfield seats 400' away from the plate...

Makes me wonder what the rooftop seats are going for nowdays...

The only travesty is that they don't have Dodger Dogs. That's just not right.

Agreed, but the real travesty is how much the Dodger Dog has changed in the last 25 years.

How so?

Taste has changed a bit and they used to be thicker. Still hard to beat them, but they're not what they were.

About the only reason I wish I still lived in Minnesota. And the thing about the Metro Dump isn't even that it's indoors. It's just an awful sporting venue. The sight lines are bad. The chairs are uncomfortable. The food sucks. And, it's an hour wait to use the bathroom ...for men!

Even the Vikings don't want to play there anymore. If they don't get a new stadium built in Minnesota (where the Metrodome now stands) they may well end up in Los Angeles....

Yup. And unfortunately Pawlenty refuses to budge on the issue. Though he's done next year, the Vikings lease is up in 2011. So there is a really small window.

I'm not following. What does Pawlenty have to do with this? Is he trying to block the Vikings from building a new stadium on the Metrodome site? Can he do that?

Ah, gotcha. Well, I rarely pay much attention to the games anyway. I go for the company, beer, and hotdogs. A good game helps, but being far away would certainly not ruin my time.
