Admiral Toddman wore gold in "THE DIE IS CAST".
Right. An admiral, that's a head of a Starfleet branch. Kind of like I'm sure there's all kinds of upper ranks in blue suits, in charge of branches of scientific study. I only mean it seems like there's a ceiling in yellow suit advancement aboard ships & outposts etc... where if they want the 3rd pip, it's only available in command red suit positions, which I suppose there's some sense to that, maybe.Admiral Toddman wore gold in "THE DIE IS CAST".
Data is a disappointing
7 years/seasons and he stayed Pinocchio learned nothing
Emotion chip upgrade solved everythng
My dog is much smarter than him
It doesn't matter, really.
- If a gold shirt has to be transferred to a planet or starbase to rank up, Data would have been a fine asset there. And here's a thought... if that admiral in "The Offspring" had had any brains at all, he'd have brought both Data and Lal to his research facility and put Data in charge of the project of developing more Soong type androids. Not only had Data replicated Soong's work, he had exceeded it!
Well, he breathes, has a pulse, dreams, and grows hair. Maybe he has other human traits.Data can go a week possibly without decompiling his clothes?

Dr. Bashir, making a guest appearance, explained it best: "Your creator went to a lot of trouble to make you seem human. I find that fascinating."No, but why go to the lengths of making him breathe, for example? I see no immediate advantage of that, save perhaps for making the humans he interacts with feel more at ease (and I even doubt that would actually make a difference).

It doesn't seem like it was that hard... when Data created Lal, he was not only able to make her look perfectly human, but he was even able to give her a choice on how she looked. He did, but he could have made Data's face and eyes a whole lot more 'human-looking' - we can do that today. It would even have been way easier than some of the other things he did to make him 'seem human'. So why didn't he?
Exactly. People forget that when he began making them, & using his own likeness as the model, he too was the same age as the appearance of those models. It would've been rather inconsiderate of him to have indistinguishable multiples of himself wandering around... especially after Lore went bad & folks would've been wary of them thereafter.Perhaps Soong didn't want his androids to look too much like him.
Hmmm... Data with alterations and enhancements.... that's probably enough to inspire some people to write fanfics of doubtful quality ...
