I think its time to change our avatars back.

Thank God a few of you have some sense and want to stop this nonsense.

It was annoying and profoundly unfunny for all but a handful of people.

\S/

Agreed. Not to mention verging on pathetic given how long it lasted.

Sort of like telling the same joke 30 times a day for a month. An unfunny in the first place joke!

I like your avatars. Especially Pine's Kirk with a sombrero. :D
I don't see why should you change your avatars if you like them. Everyone can choose their own avatar. You shouldn't bother with the ones who dislike them, it's their problem.

thank you
:)

Just lighten up geez, I've never seen you crack a E-Smile ever on this board ;)

you know..
no one is forcing people to wear a sombrero avatar nor to find it usage funny.
but it is getting silly with people demanding everyone stop wearing theirs because because they deemed everyone should find it not funny and not be inflicted with it.

i thought about posting this in a certain thread in misc but maybe this is best.

it isnt that great but it was what sprung to mind as i read some of this stuff.

sorry for not having the photo shop skills to really make it funny.

KIRK; All right. About Landru.
REGER: There was madness. Convulsions. The world was destroying itself. Landru was our leader. He saw the truth. He changed the board. He took us back, back to a simple time. A time of peace and tranquility. A time without sombrero’s.
KIRK: What happened to him?

KIRK: You said you wanted freedom.
Its time you learned that freedom is never a gift. It has to be earned
. Come on. We're going to find Landru.

LANDRU: Despite my efforts to save you, you have invaded the Body and you are causing great harm with your sombrero ways. Your time was past.

KIRK: We have no intention of causing harm.

LANDRU: Obliteration is necessary.
The sombrero infection is strong.
For the good of the body of the board, you must die, the sombrero must vanish.

KIRK: We do not intend to die nor give up our sombreros.

LANDRU: All who saw you and your sombreros,
all who know of your presence here must be excised.
The memory of the Body of the board will be cleansed.
The board will return to normal and will be as if the sombrero never restored.

LANDRU: The body is. It exists. It is healthy. It has not need of a sombrero.

KIRK: The body is dying. You are destroying it. You have destroyed the fun.
Fun is a fundamental factor of life. Fun is creativity in the mind of the individual.
….
LANDRU: Do you ask a question?
KIRK: What have you done to do justice to the full potential of every individual of the Body?
LANDRU: Insufficient data.
KIRK: Without freedom of choice, there is no creativity.
People must be free to express their creativity as they see fit.
Without creativity, there is no life. The body dies. The fault is yours.

SPOCK: Are you aiding the body, or are you destroying it?
Has your battle against the soul of the sombrero destroyed the body of the board.?

LANDRU: I am not programmed to answer that question.

LANDRU: Peace, order, and tranquility are maintained. The body lives, but I reserve creativity to me. I determine how creativity will be expressed.
No more sombreros when I determine.
I control creativity, I decide what is humor.

SPOCK: Then the body dies. Creativity is necessary for the health of the Body.
The freedom to express ones sense of creativity as the individual desires is necessary.

LANDRU: This is impossible.

KIRK: You must create the good. That is the will of Landru, nothing else.
LANDRU: But there is evil.
KIRK: Then the evil must be destroyed. That is the Prime Directive. And you are the evil. You will not allow the wearing of the sombrero; the desire to create as an individual. To allow the ones to find their own humerous path.

I've never demanded anyone have a sombrero or not. For as long as I choose, I shall keep my purple-ness and sombrero-ness.
I'm a combat veteran who also survived Hollywood. I'll survive this, too. :vulcan:
I think your avatar is adorable. :bolian:

Just because you're not in on a joke, that doesn't mean it isn't funny.
Precisely. Some things are funny without need of explanation... which is good, because I tried to understand the original thread and got completely lost. But I finally have my own sombrero avatar now, and I'm keeping it for as long as it amuses me.

Ok, I'll admit it.

I'm an idiot.

I'm back in the club. Will you take me back?

You really don't want to see what's under my sombrero....Shiggity! I can't post an attachment... you all lucked out!

I've only had my "Phantom of Krankor with Sombrero" avatar for 2 weeks...

Crack whore?;)
From the actual episode:

Krankor: "People of Earth. I am Phantom of Krankor!"
Mike Nelson: "Crank whore?"

Ahhh...crank whore.

I think I'll watch that ep now!

Prince of Space is my favorite MST3K episode, too...along with Space Mutiny (and in the of interest of accuracy, it was Crow who said "Crank-whore?")

...and back on topic:
jon1701, you are not an idiot...at least you weren't a hard-ass about your 'sans-sombrero' suggestion.

Me too.

Can one of the mods change the thread title to

"I think we should keep our avatars forever"

Two threads with people complaining...sorry whining about hating the avatars and they end up making more people have the avatars

Thank you. Someone made if for me (I'm not that talented.)
The sombrero gag jumped the shark on day one
Main Entry: op·pres·sion Pronunciation: \ə-ˈpre-shən\ Function: noun Date: 14th century 1 a: unjust or cruel exercise of authority or power b: something that oppresses especially in being an unjust or excessive exercise of power2: a sense of being weighed down in body or mind : depression
I shall not bow to oppression! :vulcan:
