I really can't make up my mind, so I need some help. I like to purchase a whole series at once and watch it from beginning to end. I've not seen a whole lot of any of them, so which ever one I buy I'm going to be viewing for mostly the first time.

I'm assuming you have probably seen all these shows at one time or another? I know many people don't think much about Voyager or Enterprise around here but I liked them both. Sure each show had it's problems but I don't think the problems were as many or as bad as some fans seem to think. I own all the series, including The Animated Series, and movies on DVD. I suppose that even though I love the Original Series my vote would go for Voyager as your next purchase. It's closer to the Trek you have just worked your way through. I would then go with Enterprise and then Classic Trek and the Animated Series.

Yeah, I've seen them all. I've saw about two seasons of Voyager, and I like it pretty well. I've been a TNG fan since the beginning. Bought DS9 last year even though I had never watched a single episode of it before and it was the greatest thing that ever happened.

This is where my DVD collection stopped. I just don't have the room for the rest.

However, if you are going to buy more then I would suggest TOS next, especially if you haven't seen it before. I only got around the watching it recently and there's some really good stuff in that show, particularly the characters.

Then I'd get Enterprise, since that show is the closest any of the others got to DS9 in style. There was some good character work there and some excellent story arcs in the final two seasons.

Then Voyager if you can afford it.

And if you really need Trek after that then there is always the animated series.

Get TOS first. It did come first, and set the stage for everything that came after it. Then get Voyager. Only get Enterprise if you absolutely must have everything with the title "Star Trek" on it. If you're not suffering from that problem, then for goodness sake, skip it.

Blasphemy!

This comment makes my hair hurt.

I suppose they are 'similar'...in the same way a lion is 'similar' to a hamster.

I mean, both are mammals.

Besides...Rick Berman said that Enterprise was the FIRST TIME Star Trek had tried things like story arcs.

Clearly, he saw no resemblance to DS9 whatsoever. :guffaw:

Anyway...I voted for TOS.

I never said it was as good as DS9 as that would be a ludicrous statement, I merely said that Enterprise was the closest to DS9 in style. It was the only other Trek series to try story arcs, as you have said, and it was the only other Trek in which characters didn't just revert back to normal at the end of each episode. Archer is not the same man in season three and four as he was in the beginning. It sure as hell beats Voyager!

DS9 > TNG > TOS > ENT > VOY > TAS

VOY is seven seasons

TOS is three, Enterprise is four. You could knock off two for the price of one.

TOS then TAS then stop. ENTERPRISE was only good in its last season and VOYAGER is completely skippable.

Go back to where it all started with the original series.

There's nothing about that post I don't agree with.

People bag on ENT all the time, but I thought it was pretty decent, even if it does have more than its fair share of clunkers. DS9, TNG and TOS are exceptional. ENT isn't quite on their level, but it's got a lot of good stuff. And the less said about VOY the better.

Good of you to point this out. I agree 100%.

Go for TOS. It's a classic. It's the best. It comes in the fewest number of boxsets, so it's the cheapest.

Plus, it may help you catch any little references and in-jokes found in the new movie.

I would go for Voyager, I have both DS-9 and Voyager entire series, I want to get TNG next when my budget allows...
