I need to watch a "feel good" movie.. what would you suggest?

How about Galaxy Quest? No matter how many times I see it, I still find it so delightfully charming and upbeat.

When I need cheering up, this is most of the list I turn to....

Animal House
Blues Brothers
Ghostbusters
UHF
Return of the Jedi
Dogma
Hot Fuzz

oz
and i went to the 1.50 theatre last night and saw bolt.

has some great laughs in it.

some others..
spirited away
iron man
ground hog day
ghost busters
babe
african queen
harvey

not a movie but i really like some of the brett holmes .
makes you feel good to see holmes dealing out justice.

especially blue carbuncle

;)

Singin' in the Rain.

One of the best movies ever. If you haven't seen this, you are a philistine.

Rio Bravo

Also one of the best movies ever.

Oh, yes! Very good suggestion. Sometimes I watch this when I'm feeling blue for a little bit of life-affirming cheer. It's great to watch it side-by-side with Gene Kelly's dance just to see how perfectly they've reproduced it.

This might be a bit 4-years-ago, but I find it impossible to watch any episode of Wonderfalls without a smile plastered across my face.

Watch Bridge to Terabithia. But, remember to eject the film when Ms. Edmunds drops Jess off at home (the film is inspirational before that point, and needlessly depressing after that point).

Amelie is a wonderful little movie, although the last time I saw it was with the woman who proceeded to dump me a couple of weeks later.

So, um, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, then? Jean Arthur's a cutie.

36 posts in, and still no mention of Local Hero? :p OK, I'll mention it as my personal favourite feel-good movie. :bolian:

The 2 Airplane and Bill & Ted movies...
Spaceballs...
The Shrek movies...
Over The Hedge...
Chicken Run...
MIB 1 & 2...
BASEketball...

Starman
The American President
Doctor in the House
Mad About Men
Passport to Pimlico
Carry On - any of them

A few picked from my own collection:

- Back to the Future
- Beverly Hills Cop
- Bring It On
- Die Hard
- Ferris Bueller
- A Knight's Tale
- Last Samurai
- Mary Poppins
- Secret of My Success
- Star Wars (any of them really)
- Top Gun
- Trading Places
- Weekend at Bernies
- What Women Want

OK, well, some odd choices there maybe, but they make ME feel good about the world. :)
