Well, you take your chances and see what happens. It's a gamble and life's like that. If you just told her that you had a crush and wanted to see where it went from there, no, you didn't F up at all. It's worth the attempt.

People tend to regret what they didn't do, not what they did do. In other words, in the long run you'd have kicked yourself for not saying anything. However, you won't regret having tried and being shot down, in the long run.

Now, if there's more to the story that you haven't said, like you told her but in some sort of obnoxious way, well maybe then you did F up, but there's no way to tell from your post.
