Can I be reasonably forgiven for thinking this thread was about Wesley and Beverly Crusher?
My second thought was, "Of course they should have made a Saavik pregnancy canon... but only if it had been Kirstie Alley in STIII (can't stand Robin Curtis)."

Alas, what an opportunity they wasted. So Spock, just barely a teenager, has to have sex with a hot chic..OR..he will die. That would be one heck of a line to use a the local pup. "Hey babe, if I don't have sex with you, right now, the world will crumble apart and we will all die"
I thought that she should have ended up pregnant and had Spock's "Bastard" child. It would have been a perfect set up for a new character in TNG's time line..IMO...

Saavik is Vulcan/Romulan, not Bene Gesserit.Something is wrong with you.
Something is wrong with me, too, because I can see what you're saying.
Although, if Vulcans have enough control over their bodies that they can will themselves to die, she probably could have just not become pregnant.
I agree they did the soap elements pretty well, with some story arcs taking months or years to resolve... too bad I didn't like most of the characters.Well, I was once a fan of soaps, specifically General Hospital (Hence my screen name)..so, I am all for Soap Opera antics..in fact, DS9 to me, was just a big soap opera...overlaping storylines AND characters....they did it good..

Valeris was originally supposed to be Saavik, as I recall...What STAR TREK VI needed was a vengeful Saavik come to wreak vengeance on Spock and the Enterprise-A crew for leaving her on Vulcan with a bunch of puritanical, chaste elders and priests.
