I Love TNG

If they hadn't gone to extreme lengths with Tam, Tin Man might have been considered a classic. Tam was just too annoying which almost ruined a well plotted episode.

I didn't want you to "like" him.

NECRO POSTING!

It's interesting, however, I made this thread a year ago and here I am a year later watching through TNG again! Guess I get the "itch" this time of year. ;)

^ All's well that ends well.

Anything different this time? Something new you've noticed or appreciated?

I love TNG too, but I've been working on Voyager and just started Enterprise. I might go back to TNG one day, but I do stop on BBC America if there is an episode on (Just watched Data's Day a few weeks ago as a matter of fact) and it's still great to watch.

Trekker, just curious, how old are you? You say you grew up with TNG, so did I. That's why it's my favorite. DS9 doesn't have the Childhood memories the way TNG did, which is why for the most part TNG wins out so often. I love all the Trek's to varying degrees though, but TNG was "mine," as you say, as well.

EDIT:

I hate posting in threads for the "First time" again. So this is a thread from last year at this time. Oh well. I still stand by what I said then and now. ;)

I am 31. I started watching TNG in '91 or '92 so I was a "bit late" to the party, though I remeber seeing episodes here-and-there before then as my parents watched the occasional episode in our home, but neither of them are real fans of the series but they'd catch the occasional "heavy" episode, I remember them watching "The Offspring" when it first aired.

TNG is what brought me into the franchise the first episode I watched on my own volition was, I believe the S-5 episode "Cause and Effect" and then I was hooked as I got pulled more and more into the series.

Until then I thought it was typical Sci-Fi nonsense, aliens, fighting, space battles, bah! But when I discovered it was about exploration, discovery and humanity I was awed. Got more into TNG, catching older episodes in second-run syndication and watching new episodes as they came, tried to get into DS9 when it premiered but it failed to "hook" me when it started off I'd only watch it occasionaly after that. Voyager I watched fairly reguarly when it started until I realized it wasn't taking its own premise seriously and I pretty much detatched from it, again catching it on occasion. Enterprise I watched all the way through and TOS I watched on occasion when it was in syndication but didn't really watch it until the DVD Box-Sets came out a few years ago.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I thought you were older. Not that much older, but mid to late 30s at least.

I'm 25, and watched TNG every Saturday Night at 8:00 PM with the family. This was when I was like 5 years old, so my young childhood grew up with these characters and stories. It just brought a sense of awe and wonder and it looked really cool. Also, some episodes scared the crap out of me (Some, like Violations were episodes my parents didn't want me to see) like Night Terrors, Genesis, and believe it or not, Eye of the Beholder. The last one I think gave me nightmares for a week. Peirce was a creepy creepy bastard.
