I like The Burn..... But I was also wondering this.

So by the 29th century? Yeah who the heck knows how they even think of crime in a non-linear manner. But that's probably perfectly normal from their perspective, even if it isn't for us.
Exactly. I don't see how we could possibly have the right to judge them.

Although it should be noted that in Braxton's case - and this is probably standard practice in 29th-century Starfleet - all versions of him would be temporally integrated prior to trial. So the Braxton who actually goes before the court will be one who HAS committed those crimes.

Knowing as we do that it's very possible to change the timeline in Star Trek, we can judge a society that punishes people for an avoidable future offense extremely easily. Given the right circumstances, you can get just about any one to break the law: They should all just arrest themselves.

So you like this Grim Dark future for the UFP / StarFleet that Discovery has jumped into?

Well... yeah. Starting in a dark place and striving for something better has kind of been a recurring theme of Discovery. We've seen the Federation at its best. That's not really all that interesting to me. I want to see what happens when you push those values right to their breaking point.
