I like games that I don't have to pay attention to

I was about to try Zoo Tycoon 2 (with all expansions). Is this series any good?

I think it's a lot of fun. I've always seen it as a more sophisticated companion to RollerCoaster Tycoon. There are "scenarios," or challenges, to get through that can be really challenging and fun. For example, you have been given two animals of an endangered species, make them mate before the end of the year. There's also smaller challenges along the way, like take a picture of these two animals together to earn $2,500. Or you can just free play it. It's a lot of fun. At least worth a try.

So basically you want a game that can play itself? :)

Basically. I don't want all my characters or whatever to get destroyed if I walk away, but I also don't want nothing to happen. Roller Coaster Tycoon was perfect for this because even if your rides break down, as long as you have a maintenance crew, it will eventually fix itself.

I want to play the game, but I don't want to need to control every little thing.

I might just have to order Roller Coaster Tycoon online! How was Roller Coast Tycoon 3? I only ever played the first one, and 3 is the only one available for Macs.

Actually the X games largely meet these criteria - if you're away for an hour some of your freighters might get attacked, disrupting parts of your network, but it's unlikely anything catastrophic will occur.
