I like everything about Star Trek...

1. Sentient, artificial lifeforms.
2. Transfer, duplication and back-up of consciousness.
3. Universal acknowledgment of the fact of evolution.
4. Intelligent species everywhere who never heard of Christ or Jehova.
5. An enlightened humanity based on the precepts of Secular Humanism.

You must not like a whole lot about Star Trek.

It does not bother me whether it conflicts with religion or not, as I personally prefer science to religion. I agree with you however that Star Trek is about people using their imaginations, and some jolly good one's at that!

transmogrification of water into wine.

resurrections.

ascent into a higher plane of existance.

curing incurable diseases.

walking on water.

and you think Star Trek's sci-fi?!

Star Trek is pure fiction so what does that have to do with the bible?

How about the parts that contradict recent history? Eugenic wars anyone?

Me, I'm not bothered by that. It being fictional and all...

except when it conflicts with the bible.

so, really, you only like the end of "Bread and Circuses."

After all, science is only based on theories...

and the Bible was written by a bunch of guys sitting around a fire during the Bronze Age, which is a fact that not even Biblethumpers dispute. i'll taken rational theories tested through the scientific method of hypothesis-experimentation-observation-conclusion anyday of the week.

after all, that how the theories that allowed for the development of the computer you enjoy using to be built. i don't recall any passage in the Bible like "An lo, Moses said onto the people 'press ctrl alt del to reboot, and always download antivirus patches to protect thy hardrive from evil.'"

so if the Bible, or any other religion, gives you comfort, or answers those questions that science is not designed to answer, fine, more power to you. but don't go expecting everyone else's worldview of objective reality to warp to match it.

Let's see...

Yeshua was born September 15 5 C.E. (Christian Era makes no sense) which was a Jewish holiday. Joseph, and Mary were already married (none of that virgin birth nonsense). Christmas is a pagan holiday, same with Easter.

Mary was visited by the Archangel Gabrielle, a woman. Gabrielle came onto her ;)

Yeshua remains have been found.

The Shroud of Turin was created by Leonardo da Vinci (whose image you see).

Yeshua was black.

Its the Reed Sea not the Dead Sea.

Yeshua was nailed to a tree not a cross because wood was scarce.

The is no scientific evidence for the Global Flood nor Noah's Ark. It was ripped off from Sumerian legends. Adama and E.den created a boat.

Sodom and Gomorrah have never been found.

The Holy Bible as it stands was edited (Judas was actually a nice guy. Yeshua told him to betray him. Mary of Madegelne was married to Yeshua and his second in command.)

Bees don't build nests in lion carcasses.

The Old Testament is not the Torah (The Jewish Bible GAG).
Adam's first wife Lilith is cut out.

You perverting you're temple with homosexuality and masturbation is not in the bible (The words didn't come into existence until the 19th Century C.E.)

The story of Onan is not about masturbation. Its about coitus interruptus.

"Man may not lie with another man as with a woman. It is an abomination." is wrong. Replace Man and woman with human. Back then tribes made treaties having the daughter have sex with a member of the other tribe. "Whoa bro. You're daughter is a fine piece of ass."

Bats are not birds.

Mesozoic dinosaurs never met Homo Sapians. Mesozoic dinosaurs are not reptiles, they are archosaurs. Cenozoic dinosaurs (birds), and Mesozoic dinosaurs are one and the same.

If Yeshua said you don't need to follow the Old Testament than you must ignore the stuff condemning homosexuality.

Intelligent Design is not a scientific theory.

Star Trek is not communist nor is it a tool of the Christian Taliban.

Just to prove that I'm OCD about something other than Star TRek, a few corrections:

Its the Reed Sea not the Dead Sea.
Its the Reed Sea not the Red Sea. The Dead Sea is a different body of water (in Israel rather than in Egypt).

Adam's first wife Lilith is cut out.
Actually, the idea of Lilith being Adam's first wife originated in the Talmud, which was written in the middle-ages (roughly). Its not that she was taken out, the Rabbis inserted her into the Biblical story in thier commentaries.

If nothing else this post proves that my degree in comparative Religious Studies didn't go completely to waste :D

Can't we all just grab our Klingon Bibles and get along?

And what does God need with a Starship?!!

:guffaw:
the question is why wouldnt God need a starship. can drink tea with Q

I would think that God could just snap a finger, antenna or tentacle and just create a starship out of thin air.
It's plastic that he has a problem with; That's why he made us.

You know, the more I think about it, maybe that guy at the end of Final Frontier wasn't actually God; Maybe they should have called it The Next To final frontier.
